The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forwards Colin McDonald and Jason Williams to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, according to the team website. This likely means the Penguins are going to get some help soon in terms of injured players returning. Jordan Staal seems to be the most obvious candidate for a return for Saturday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets. Both Staal and Simon Despres began practicing with team rather than with conditioning coach Mike Kaydar this past weekend (leading to Sidney Crosby feeling lonely and joining them.) Staal has been recovering well and was projected to return from injured reserve sometime next week, and now a Saturday return seems imminent. There is still no word on the severity of Tyler Kennedy‘s injury, so he could still potentially return this weekend as well, though I wouldn’t call it likely. Nobody really has any clue about Kennedy’s situation right now, but the Penguins will give an update on Kennedy’s status tomorrow...
