Coyotes
Keith Yandle has been named a NHL All-Star for the second straight season. The Phoenix defenseman and only person selected from the Coyotes team was one of the 48 members in the player pool that was announced on Thursday. The pool of players will now be narrowed down by two captains ahead of the game that will take place on Jan. 29 in Ottawa. The Bostonian is one of 10 defensemen selected as an All-Star. Last season, Yandle was picked to the game by captain Niklas Lidstrom. Yandle was held scoreless in his team’s 11-10 win over a team which was led by Eric Staal. Yandle’s numbers are a bit down compared to the career stats that he put up last season, but he is still having a solid year nevertheless. Yandle has 25 points on the season; five goals and 20 assists. His 20 dishes are second on the team behind only Ray Whitney. The 25-year-old also has 28 penalty minutes and a +2 rating. As far as the league picking Yandle as the Coyotes only representative, it is hard to argu...

Coyotes' offensive options limited

Could The Rangers Pursue Shane Doan At The Trade Deadline?

There has been quite a bit of buzz around Shane Doan the past week or so, for two reasons. The first is the fact that he finally notched his first hat trick in his 16th season in the National Hockey League. The third goal came with 0.01 seconds left on the clock against the Islanders last weekend (sound familiar?). But the other reason that there has been some noise around Doan are...

Adam French: Mike Smith an All-Star

Mike Smith, well that is all I can say. He has been an absolute beast and despite his exclusion from the All-Star game (Deserved) I still think he deserves some kind of an award. Mike Smith has been the most consistent player for the Coyotes and has defied any expectations. He is a beast, though a beast tempered by a system. As people have begun to realize that Ilya Bryzgalov did...

George’s note: We’re having a blog hiccup. It should be resolved shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience! Updated with trade talk from Pierre LeBrun at 10:48 PM: The Detroit Red Wings’ 3-2 shootout win over the Phoenix Coyotes produced a lovely result in 100 wins for Jimmy Howard, 300 for coach Mike Babcock and a game that was, quite honestly, an incredibly spotty...
