After getting lit up on their home ice just over a week ago by Thomas Vanek and the Buffalo Sabres, the Bruins, powered by a strong performance from back-up goaltender Anton Khudobin, secured a 3-1 win last night in what has become a heated rivalry. Shawn Thornton was back on the ice along with Sabres' enforcer John Scott, who knocked Thornton out for several games with a concussion after the two fought in the previous meeting between the two teams. In that game, by far Tuukka Rask's toughest of the year, the Sabres outgunned the Bruins with their offensive attack led by Thomas Vanek. That was not that case in last night's meeting, as the Sabres offense was stagnated by Khudobin and the Bruins defense. Khudobin stopped 25 of 26 shots, outplaying world-class goalie Ryan Miller. Petrice Bergeron scored a rare Bruins power play goal half-way through the third period, and the B's were able to hold the lead. With Tim Thomas having been shipped off to the Islanders, i...

Anton Khudobin Keys ‘Blizzard Bounce Back’ as Bruins Avenge Loss to Sabres, Keep Rolling in Win Column (Video)

On paper, it would appear that Anton Khudobin versus Ryan Miller favors the Buffalo Sabres. Luckily, hockey isn’t played on paper, it’s played on ice — where Khudobin was the better player on this night. The 26-year-old goalie made 25 saves to Miller’s 36, but the key was quantity, not quality this time around. The Bruins relied on their backstop to spark a bounce-back effort...

Announcer loses it after Bruins stage comeback

Jack Edwards isn’t exactly one of those broadcasters known for masking his passion for the hometown team. In fact, Jack’s often been (correctly) called a Bruins “homer,” but the simple fact is that most B’s fans don’t really care…and it appears that, frankly, neither does Jack. Bruins fans have grown to love Jack for his strange attempts at humor and wild antics in...

Sabres Observer Radio: Ruff Times

The Sabres look worse than a 5-7-1 team, and head coach Lindy Ruff is getting more heat from fans and media in Buffalo than he ever has since taking the job 16 years and 4 presidential elections ago.  The hearty discussion here is not only about if Ruff should be replaced, but also if owner Terry Pegula would even consider making such a move. In this week's edition of Sabres...

Still The Same In Buffalo

from Bucky Gleason of the Buffalo News, High-ranking people from across the league are laughing at the Sabres, just as they did last year after the season turned ugly. What people, you ask? Sorry, but their names will remain private. It's an unfortunate but necessary aspect of the media that many don't understand, but with anonymity comes unfiltered opinions. And...

Tyler Seguin Will Turn it Around

Many think Seguin is underperforming, but with a team filled of skilled players there is no need to sound the alarms It's been a while since I've last written about the Bruins, I have been stuck down in the sunny Carolinas with no access to the Bruins, and just got access to a computer. so unfortunately I won't be able to watch tonight's game. I hope to be able to...

Jay Pandolfo Signing Adds Depth, Insurance to Bruins Lineup (Video)

With 14 NHL seasons under his belt, Jay Pandolfo is the definition of a veteran presence. The Bruins will take advantage of that savvy this season, as the team signed the 38-year-old Mass. native to one-year, two-way contract on Tuesday. Pandolfo, who made his NHL debut with the Devils back in 1996-97, is expected to split time between Boston and Providence this season, providing...

Khudobin shines brighter than Rihanna's forehead at the Grammys. BRUINS WIN!

The Bruins scored a big victory last night in Buffalo if we want to play up the revenge angle, but I don't. I don't see why people believed the Bruins needed to avenge Shawn Thornton because of what happened with him and John Scott. If an enforcer gets hurt fighting an enforcer, there's nothing to atone for. Instead, Boston came out and pretty much manhandled the Buffalo...

Bruins Trade Fists With Sabres Again While Fan Bases Wage War Over Social Media (Video)

The Bruins and Sabres don’t like each other — this much is clear. Each time the two teams have met in the 2013 season, there has been a fight. While the Big Bad Bruins might normally welcome the chance to flex their muscles, their last two bouts against Buffao haven’t gone their way, with Shawn Thornton and Gregory Campbell a bit the worse for wear afterward. Still, Bruins...

Containing Scoring Leader Thomas Vanek Will Be Key for Bruins in Buffalo (Video)

The Bruins played their worst game of the season the last time they faced off with Buffalo, and Sabres forward Thomas Vanek had a great deal to do with that. The 29-year-old Austrian tallied five points, including a hat trick, in his team’s 7-4 win over Boston and is off to perhaps the best start of his eight-year career. Vanek leads the NHL in both goals (11) and points (23) through...

Bruins Sign Jay Pandolfo To One-Year Deal

The Bruins welcomed a veteran presence into their locker room on Tuesday, signing 38-year old forward Jay Pandolfo to the club with a one-year deal. According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Pandolfo’s tw0-way deal is for a pro-rated value of $600,000 at the NHL level and $350,000 in the AHL. Jay Pandolfo’s AAV with BOS on 1-yr deal is $600K, annual salary of $350K in minors. All pro...

Keys to The Game Vs. Buffalo

After a Big Bad Blizzard rocked the Northeast the Big Bad Bruins now have to rock the Buffalo Sabres. The two division rivals already faced once this year in a game that did not go well for the defensively minded Bruins. The Sabres scored 7 goals on the Bruins, one an empty net goal, against the Bruins who put up four goals themselves. The Bruins weren't only beat on the score...

NHL Action Continues on Fox Sports

The Boston Bruins host the New York Rangers in this week's featured NHL game of the week. The Bruins enter the 2012-13 season basically the same team that made the playoffs last year with one major exception. Goalie Tim Thomas announced he was taking the season off, which has accelerated the full time playing status for heir apparent, Tuukka Rask. Rask was signed to a one-year...
