The Kings have to do something they haven't done in this postseason: play Game 6 of a series. On the cusp of the franchise's first Stanley Cup just a few days ago, the Kings are 0-for-2 with a chance to win the Cup. They lost Game 4 at home on Wednesday and Game 5 on the road on Saturday, when the New Jersey Devils won 2-1. New Jersey, a gritty team, has won two games to keep the Stanley Cup final alive, send the series back to Los Angeles for a Game 6 and put the Kings in a tough situation. In the first round, the Kings beat Vancouver in five games. In the second round, they swept St. Louis. In the conference final, they beat Phoenix in five games. Never before had the Kings had to win a game to prevent playing a seventh game in a series. The Kings took a 10-0 road record into New Jersey for Game 5 but lost. Now, in order to avoid a Game 7, they must win on home ice, which hasn't been the easiest of things. Before the Game 5 loss, the Kings' only three playo...

Following his meltdown outside the Staples Center during Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, Charlie Sheen has now been offered a few perks by the Devils for Game 5.

Back at practice, Kings again have eyes on prize

Jonathan Quick was back in lockdown mode: preparing for Game 5 of the finals as though it were Game 1, and not the Los Angeles Kings' second chance to claim the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history. As he did on media day in advance of the series opener against the New Jersey Devils, the Kings' stellar goalie faced reporters on Friday with a baseball cap yanked...

LA Kings pledge $50k to catch baby killer

The Los Angeles Kings have pledged $ 50,000 in reward money in an effort to help find the killer of a 1-year old Watts boy, who died from a gunshot wound Monday night. The announcement came as part of the “2,000 Acts of Hope”, which is a charitable initiative in the Los Angeles area. The shooting is said to be gang related and occurred because the boy’s father, Mauro Cortez...

Fresh off plane with confidence, Kings eye Game 6

There's no panic in Los Angeles after twice missing out on chances to win the Stanley Cup. At least that was the company line on Sunday, as the Kings discussed Game 6. Many of them, in fact, took an optional skate less than a day after a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils in Game 5, and seemed upbeat afterward. ''I think we're a confident bunch,'' Kings center...

Kings suddenly look beatable as Devils win again

As much as the Los Angeles Kings love playing on the road, it will be panic time if they have to visit New Jersey again. Gone is the Kings' invincibility away from home as Los Angeles had its 10-game, road-winning streak in these playoffs snapped along with a 12-game run that began last year, in losing 2-1 to the New Jersey Devils in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals on Saturday...

Still Quick-er... Rock-Solid Game 5 shifts Series back to LA

History wont be made, it's BEING made! A perfect 10-0 road record for the Kings, SNAPPED! Another opportunity to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup, put on hold; why? The Devils live to see another day solely on their resilliency to not give up, to play disciplined, to play a full 60 minutes, to get men in front of the net and take shots, basically, in a nut shell, the...

NHL -- Kings Crowned

Just a few things that caught my eye ... Who won the Cup for the Kings -- Dustin Brown, Drew Doughty and Jonathan Quick, or the on-ice officiating crew? You know you've arrived when David Beckham shows up wearing your name on a jersey. King's Conn Jonathan Quick went 16-4 with 3 SO, a 1.41 GAA and .946 save percentage. That performance ranks as one...
