The Los Angeles Kings placed defenseman Drew Doughty on the injured list on Sunday with an upper-body injury.
Doughty was injured after being leveled by a shoulder-to-shoulder hit by Zac Rinaldo of the Philadelphia Flyers during Saturday's 3-2 victory.
The shot - which happened 24 seconds into the game - started a fight as teammate Dustin Penner came to Doughty's aid.
Doughty was able to return for a shift, but he was ruled out with an undisclosed upper-body injury in the second period.
On Sunday, the Kings recalled defenseman Slava Voynov from Manchester of the American Hockey League.
Rinaldo defended the hit after the game.
"From my vantage point? He came across the trolley tracks," Rinaldo said. "Head down. Clean hit, shoulder-to-shoulder. So that's about it."
A second overall pick in 2008 and a former Norris Trophy finalist, Doughty has notched one assist in four games this season.
