Found April 29, 2012 on Around The Rink:

Dustin Penner, he of pancake-misfortune fame, put the cherry on top of the Los Angeles Kings’ victory in Game 1 of their Semifinal matchup against the St. Louis Blues. Penner assisted on the Kings’ first goal, and ended up scoring his first of the series on this wacky bank-shot empty-net goal to put the Kings up 3-1. Penner’s goal was the last of the game, and Los Angeles took Game 1 by a score of 3-1.

Check out the goal:

Game 2 between the Kings and Blues will be Monday at 9pm EST.

Kings hope Dustin Penner's line switch pays off

ST. LOUIS It might be wishful thinking, but Coach Darryl Sutter is hoping the scent of playoff success will revive left wing Dustin Penner when the Kings open their second-round playoff series against theSt. Louis Blues on Saturday at Scottrade Center. Sutter switched wingers toward the end of the Kings' first-round victory over Vancouver, putting Penner alongside Mike Richards...

Kings effectively sticking to "Sutter's Law"

If there was ever a simple formula towards winning a playoff series, Darryl Sutter could write a book about it. "Sutter's Law" would be the shortest book ever written. "Goaltenders, special teams, top players, unsung heroes and discipline," he revealed in a memorable, pithy quote last week. "Write it down and don't forget it." The Kings are...

Experience brings confidence for Kings, Blues

ST. LOUIS -- A few weeks ago, before the Kings began their playoff journey, center Jarret Stoll said that as a young player with Edmonton in 2006, he and his No. 8-seeded Oilers teammates gained a lot of confidence from upsetting the No. 1-seeded Detroit Red Wings. Those Oilers went on to the Stanley Cup finals that spring, losing in seven games to Carolina. Now that the No. 8-seeded...

Kings Believe In Themselves

from Craig Custance of ESPN, While St. Louis was flying around them, the Kings’ players repeated the same talking points that have pushed them this far. Keep working hard. Keep finishing checks, and believe at some point it’s going to turn. It’s one thing to say it, but these Kings now truly believe it. Captain Dustin Brown said these seeds of confidence were planted during...

Matthew Barry: Kings Win: GAME FIVE of 16

There's a warrant out for Jonathan Quick. It wasn't just a robbery. It was a mugging, an assault with a deadly weapon, and a Krays style beatdown. Jonathan Quick jacked 'em up. The last two times the Kings faced the Blues in the playoffs... they were swept both times. Quick wasn't about to allow 9 straight. Andy McDonald is going to toss and turn all...

Kings-Blues: Game 2 Preview

ST. LOUIS (AP) Just like the first round, the St. Louis Blues dropped the series opener at home. Playoff Preview: St Louis Blues (2) vs. Los Angeles Kings (8)

We have two teams with Defense on their minds as they prepare to meet each other. Both have great goaltenders. St Louis just happens to have two of them, Elliott and Halak. But Quick is as good as having two goalies. This will be a big defensive battle. This will also be a low scoring series. The Kings surprised the hockey world by defeating Vancouver in 3 out of 4 games. St Louis...

Western Conference Semifinal Preview: Blues vs Kings

Remember two years ago when the 8th seeded Montreal Canadiens beat the heavily favored Capitals and Penguins in the first two rounds?  I think that this year’s Habs are the Los Angeles Kings.  They played that defensive style just well enough to beat some of those offensive first teams.  The Kings sit back and clog everything up.  They score when you mess up. The St. Louis...
