A broken orbital bone. A concussion. Seventy stitches above his right eye. And scariest of all, a bruised brain were the final damages to Philadelphia Flyers forward Ian Laperriere's(notes) face after blocking a shot in Game 5 of the first round against the New Jersey Devils. That injury came five months after the grinder blocked a slap shot from Jason Pominville(notes) of the Buffalo Sabres with his mouth back in November. The effects of that experience left Laperriere with seven less teeth, between 50-100 stitches and a face that made him look like an extra from a zombie movie. (Lappy's missing chompers did help give the Internet one of the best PSA blooper-reels of all time, however.)
