Another sold out crowd at the Tampa Bay Times Forum was hoping to witness home dominance once again by the Lightning. However, they were outplayed the entire game by the Canadiens and their late rally did not carry into the shootout resulting in their fifth straight loss. Tampa Bay was called for five penalties in the first period and managed to give up just one goal. In the second, they got four power plays of their own but came away with nothing. With Montreal leading 3-0 in the final frame, defenseman Victor Hedman got the Bolts to within one after he scored two goals, one within two minutes of regulation. The tying goal was credited to Lightning defenseman Sami Salo when his shot deflected in off the skate of a Montreal player with under a minute left in regulation. Both teams headed into the shootout where Tampa Bay’s lack of offensive scoring showed one last time as Hedman, Steven Stamkos, and Martin St. Louis were unable to get the puck past goaltender Carey Price. The winner was the shot from Montreal’s David Desharnais that beat Anders Lindback to give Montreal the win, 4-3.   The post Lightning lose fifth straight after shootout with Montreal appeared first on The Bay Cave.

Canadiens announce they have swapped goaltenders with the Lightning

The Montreal Canadiens announced they have swapped goalies with the Tampa Bay Lightning.  The Canadiens will send the Lightning Cedric Desjardins in exchange for Dustin Tokarski. From 2011-2012, Tokarski played in five games with the Lightning and posted a 1-3-1 record with a 3.45 goals against average. He was drafted 122nd overall by the Bolts in 2008. Desjardins was a member of...

Hockey Fight: Travis Moen (Montreal Canadiens) vs. BJ Crombeen (Tampa Bay Lightning)

Check out this hockey fight last night between Travis Moen of the Montreal Canadiens and BJ Crombeen of the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Moen doesn't have much of a fighting history on the ice which resulted in him throwing body shots at Crombeen.  I doubt the punches did too much damage considering they wear protection on the body.  Maybe Moen needs to get in the gym and hit a punching...

Eric Engels: Habs look to rebound against Bolts

Fragile was a word often used to describe last year's Canadiens, and though Saturday's game against the Leafs may have provoked the label, their team mentality doesn't appear to be fragile. At least not when you hear the comments from the players after this very tough stretch of games. The story spread yesterday about Erik Cole reaching out to all of his teammates...

Michael Stuart: Game 13 Preview: Lightning vs. Capitals

After five, yes five, straight losses, the Tampa Bay Lightning have been handed a golden chance to get back in the win column. The Washington Capitals are back for another tilt at the Tampa Bay Times Forum after losing here 6-3 on opening night. For the Lightning, tonight’s game against an opponent that has struggled mightily to start the season couldn’t come at a better...
