The Philadelphia Flyers started the fight but were ultimately beat down by Vinny and the Bolts as the Lightning poured it on in route to a 5-1 win at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. The Flyers got on the board first just :59 seconds into the game. A shot from the corner from Philadelphia center Sean Couturier squeezed in between Anders Lindback’s skate and the goalpost. But that would be all that they would get. Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier squared off with Flyers’ defenseman Luke Schenn shortly after and set the tone for Tampa Bay. Goals from Teddy Purcell, Eric Brewer, and Lecavalier put the Lightning up 3-1 after the first period. A solid second period by the Lightning, a period in which they have struggled so far this season, kept Philadelphia off the board. A quick goal by Victor Hedman to start the third period put the Lightning up 4-1 and Steven Stamkos would later add a tip-in for his third goal of the season to seal the deal. The Lightning continue their good play on special teams, finishing 2/5 on the power play and were prefect killing off six penalties.
