Lundqvist received a long standing ovation from the sellout crowd at Scandinavium Arena before the game. He responded by blanking his former team on four straight penalties in the first five minutes of the second period.

The Stars have had a productive preseason, posting a 5-1-0 mark to date. This afternoon (1:30 p.m. CDT), Dallas closes out the exhibition season with a matinee in St. Louis. There was a moment in last week's Avalanche preseason game against Dallas when everybody wearing the burgundy braced for the worst. Jonas Holos, a defenseman who would be sent down by the Avs to Lake Erie the next day, was in a vulnerable position.
