Lupul and Lundqvist will help in selecting the teams during the player fantasy draft on Jan. 26. They will also assist in setting the rosters and lineups for the All-Star skills competition on Jan. 28 and the All-Star game the following day. Entering Saturday, Lupul was fourth among NHL scorers with 51 points in 46 games in his eighth NHL season. Lundqvist and Lupul named assistant all-star captains

I know, I know. It’s a pet peeve of mine. The actual word is alternate captain. But in this case, the assistants will assist the captains in selecting the all-star rosters. Henrik Lundqvist was assigned to countryman Daniel Alfredsson’s team, which means he will play for co-coach John Tortorella. Here’s the info from the NHL/NHLPA (apologies for the spacing...

Postgame: Mental Errors Cost Rangers in Loss to Pens

After last Sunday’s 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, despite the obscenity of it, you could say that the New York Rangers were still in first place so it was a game that the team could just put behind them and move on. While the Blueshirts will want to do the same after tonight’s loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden, there still has to be a little more...

Maple Leafs 4, Wild 1

Phil Kessel scored his team-leading 25th goal and Joffrey Lupul picked up three assists to help the Toronto Maple Leafs snap a three-game skid with a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. Nazem Kadri, Joey Crabb and Mikhail Grabovski also had goals for Toronto, which avoided its first four-game losing streak since last season. That was more than enough offense for...

Phil Kessel (A) – The Maple Leafs have currently slipped out of the playoffs and the only chance they have of making the playoffs is if Kessel can score at an elite pace. Yes I am sure there are other players who can help the leafs gain...

The Boston Bruins are a great team. Make no mistake about it. They deserve to be the Stanley Cup Champs. They are fundamentally nearly flawless. They play an outstanding defensive game. They have some superb upper end offense, and an outstanding defense with superb goaltending. They work hard each and every shift, and throw their bodies around with reckless abandon. Now. Re...
