The Internet is buzzing. It looks like Mark Eaton has signed up for a tryout with the WBS Penguins. Stand by. EDIT: Confirmation from the WBS Pens. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed defenseman Mark Eaton to a professional tryout agreement (PTO). Eaton, 35, spent the last two seasons with the New York Islanders, where he posted one goal, six assists and 18 penalty minutes in 96 games. The fifteen-year pro skated four seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2006-2010 after being signed as a free agent on July, 3, 2006. Eaton compiled 31 points (7G-24A) over 218 games for Pittsburgh. He notched four goals and three assists in the 24 playoffs contests as the Penguins claimed the 2009 Stanley Cup. We're not sure what all of this means, but consider us excited if he ends up on the third pairing on the NHL Pens. Edit 2: Apparently this is just a WBS thing. .@rick_city Just a WBS thing. PTOs are only for 25 games. — David Straub (@dps2002) January 23, 2013 We assume that waivers would be involved in recalling him, but we don't know what we're talking about.
