Markus Naslund may be 7,000 kilometres from Vancouver, but he knows what's going on. "I feel for them," he said from Sweden, where he'd just finished watching his son play in a tournament. "I know the feeling when you're working hard and things are not going well. It's overwhelming. "I'm pulling for Vancouver." In the last 24 hours, we've been wondering if he might do more. Naslund resigned as general manager of the Swedish hockey club MoDo, leading to rumours he would join his former agent, Mike Gillis, in the front office. Gillis told Vancouver radio station The Team 1040 he would reach out to Naslund. But the former Canucks captain claims we are jumping to conclusions. "This has nothing to do with anything in North America," he said. "This is a decision made here a little over a month ago, that I was not going to sign another deal. I'm ready to do something different.

Rick Nash needs to step up

Has anyone seen this man? At some stage, Rick Nash needs to be a consistent game changing force because that’s what he is being paid to be. At some stage, people will begin to question his ability to be motivated game in, game out. At some stage if things continue the way they are, the media criticism – so far, relatively tame on Nash – will crank up. Even with Marty St Louis’...

New York Rangers Offense Still Struggles Even With Nash And St. Louis

from Larry Brooks of the New York Post, If the Rangers had lost a 1-0 game like this two years ago in which they owned a huge territorial edge and blasted 41 shots on net as they did Sunday at the Garden against the Sharks, the cry would have gone out for the front office to go get a big-time goal-scorer who would produce when it really mattered. Someone, maybe, like Rick...

Who can carry the New York Rangers to the playoffs?

With 14 games left in the 2013-14 season, the New York Rangers find themselves in a familiar position: inside the playoff picture, but precariously so. Outside of their run to the top of the East in 2011-12, this has been the pattern for the Rangers in basically every season since the 2004-05 lockout. Through March and April the team is relevant, but in this fleeting kind of way...

Canucks Rumors: Could Markus Naslund be the answer

There is speculation in and around the Vancouver Canucks that the franchise leader in goals scored, could be on his way to town, to join the Canucks organization, in a management capacity. The question that arises is what position within the front office would Markus Naslund be brought in to fill.If reports out of both Pittsburgh and Boston, are to be believed, and the Aquilini...

Hagelin’s hat trick gives Rangers big win in Winnipeg

Everybody happy! (AP Photo/The Canadian Press, John Woods) Carl Hagelin notched his first career hat trick last night, giving the Rangers the much-needed offensive wake up call en route to a 4-2 victory over Winnipeg. Things weren’t so happy in the first period, when the Rangers squandered an early Hagelin goal by surrendering two quick ones to the Jets. But the Rangers persevered...

The Hockey Maven (sort of) ate his hat because the Rangers traded Ryan Callahan

Stan Fischler said he'd eat his hat with maple syrup if the Rangers traded Ryan Callahan. They did and...the Maven stayed true to his word. Sorta. In 5 games with TB, Callahan has 3 points in 20 minutes. In 6 games and...19 minutes with the NYR, Martin St. Louis has 2 points, no goals.**Follow us on Twitter, Subscribe by Email, View via Our Mobile Site, or Return Home

Attention Vancouver, It’s Not Tortorella’s Fault

from Stan Fischler of the Fischler Report, * Have you noticed how the Vancouver media jackals have jumped all over John Tortorella? Not nice. * Torts is not the problem; his general manager hasn’t exactly given his coach an Anaheim-type team. * Plus, two back-up goalies sure doesn’t inspire confidence in the other lads, does it? * It’s time for Marty St.Louis...

Hagelin nets hat trick as Rangers take down Jets

This was a night on which the Rangers returned to wearing blue collars rather than the white gloves they had sported in losing dreary affairs this week in Carolina and Minnesota. This was a night on which they dug in against a much bigger and stronger team, sacrificing their bodies throughout an essential 4-2 victory over the Jets for which coach Alain Vigneault broke up the struggling...

Video- Can You Assume The Puck Crossed The Line In The Rangers/Sharks Game?

via the NHL Situation Blog, At 16:45 of the second period in the San Jose Sharks/New York Rangers game, the Situation Room initiated video review to further examine Carl Hagelin's wraparound attempt on the San Jose net. No camera angles provided to the Situation Room provided a clear image of the puck completely across the goal line. As a result, video review was inconclusive...

Rangers drop close contest to the Sharks

The Rangers were home for a matinee matchup yesterday against the Sharks, who came in battling the Ducks for top position in the Pacific Division. The Rangers were fresh off a win against Winnipeg which featured Carl Hagelin’s first career hat trick and Henrik Lundqvist’s 301st career win, which tied him with Mike Richter for the lead on the Rangers’ all time list. The first...

Game 69: Redemption against San Jose

Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images The last time the Rangers faced San Jose, they lost 9-2 in an absolute embarrassment of a game. This time around, it will be different (hopefully). The Sharks are no longer the white-hot team that steamrolled the opposition in October. After their absurd start, they have fallen off a bit. They are still playing great hockey, but they aren’t blowing...

Hockey World Talk

from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal, - Is it possible Hockey Hall of Famer Glen Sather, 70, may be thinking of retiring as a general manager if the New York Rangers make the playoffs this season? I’ve heard that. There was no response to a recent inquiry by me from Sather. If true, the Oilers can get his banner raised next season. The Oilers have put off a ceremony because...
