In yet another salary dumping move the Chicago BlackHawks have dealt Marty Reasoner to the Florida Panthers for Jeff Taffe. This move will approximately save the Hawks around 600k per year. Marty has been known for being a decent face off guy and more of a 4th line specialist. Marty makes 1.15 mill/year and I can think about 100 guys that can do his job for half that price. Reasoner was a Blackhawk for almost a month, a month way to long in my opinion. Taffe has been around since the 2002 season up and down from the NHL to the AHL but the majority of time has been playing in the American Hockey League. He is an offensive 29 year old but just does not seem to have the edge to stick with a big club. He may very well get his shot with Chicago and most notably makes a mere 500k/year. This move may help Chicago in it’s efforts of signing Antti Niemi, I expect an offer to be tendered to Niemi prior to the July 29th arbitration hearing and I also expect it to be a long term deal arou...
