The defending Stanley Cup champs put up a good fight, coming back from a 2 goal deficit, but couldn’t pull out the win as they lose the season opener to the Colorado Avalanche 4-3. In his regular season debut for the Blackhawks, Marty Turco didn’t show his All-Star form in having to scramble for saves and deflecting pucks all over the ice while giving up 4 goals in the process. He did save 37 shots so it wasn’t all bad, but he gave up one too many goals in the end. The power play for the Blackhawks got off to a great start with Bryan Bickell picking up his first goal of the season at 4:37 in the first, making the Blackhawks 1-1 in the power play and giving them the early 1-0 lead. Colorado would then answer back with the next three goals (Chris Steward 16:30 1st,  Matt Duchene 6:13 2nd, Paul Stastny 13:51 2nd) spanning the rest of the first and majority of the second period, giving them the 3-1 lead.
