A familiar look for Matt Cooke. Undoubtedly there's a body on the ice somewhere.
Reprehensible is the first word that comes to mind. In the span of 48 hours Matt Cooke goes knee on knee with Alexandre Ovechkin and then absolutely smokes Fedor Tyutin of the Columbus Blue Jackets from behind as square in the numbers as you possibly can. The result was a four game suspension. My question is why does the NHL continually just slap these guys on the wrist? The opportunity exists to absolutely nullify these hits with a multi game suspension just like was done with Chris Simon. Simon was suspended for the fifth time in his career on March 8, 2007 for a stick to the face of Ryan Hollweg. Hollweg fortunately was hardly hurt due to the fact that Simon’s stick bounced off of his shoulder pad. I watched that game live on TV that night and could not believe Hollweg did not get a hit from behind penalty himself on the initial hit but it certainly does not excuse Simon for his actions.
