VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- T.J. Oshie and Andy McDonald each scored in regulation and in the shootout to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 4-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night. Vladimir Sobotka also scored for St. Louis, which swept its three-game road swing after losing five straight games. Blues rookie goaltender Jake Allen made 28 saves and stopped the Canucks' Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows in the shootout. Kesler and Henrik Sedin had their first goals of the season and Mason Raymond also scored in regulation for Vancouver, which has lost two straight after winning six in a row. The Canucks looked destined to lose in regulation after the Blues took a 3-2 lead early in the third period, but Raymond tied the game on a power play with 1:47 remaining. A point shot took an errant bounce and landed on Raymond's stick at the left hash marks, and he buried his fifth of the season. Burrows had a chance to win it with a breakaway in overtime, but his bac...

Video: Jake Allen robs Alex Burrows with glove save

On Friday night, Jake Allen made national headlines for the miraculous stick save he made in the St. Louis Blues 5-2 victory over the Calgary Flames. Allen's save against the Flames is likely the save of the season thus far in the NHL. Allen started for the third night in the row between the pipe for head coach Ken Hitchcock and was at it against on Sunday night against the...

Is Ken Hitchcock's leash too short when it comes to Jaden Schwartz?

The St. Louis Blues came away with a huge victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday evening in part because of the play made by forward Vladimir Sobotka in the third period. Sobotka had chased down a puck in the corner and fired it towards the net, off the backside of center Patrik Berglund, and in to the net to give the Blues what was then a 3-2 lead. Sobotka did not get credit...

Video: Blues forward Ryan Reaves fights Aaron Volpatti of Vancouver

St. Louis Blues' forward Ryan Reaves has shown that he is more than just a fighter with his play during the past two seasons. Reaves has been a big reason why the Blues' fourth line is likely the best fourth line in the league and a line that head coach Ken Hitchcock trusts in nearly any situation. While Reaves is certainly more than just a fighter, he can, and will, oblige...

St. Louis vs Vancouver: Jake Allen comes up huge as Blues win in shootouts

After winning the first two games of their current road trip, the St. Louis Blues headed to Vancouver to take on the Canucks with hopes of sweeping the three-game road trip. Thanks to a gritty second period effort and another miraculous save in overtime by rookie goalie Jake Allen, the Blues were able to beat the Canucks 4-3 in shootouts.  The Blues fell behind early as Canucks...

How Good Are The Canucks?

from Ed Willes of the Vancouver Province, There are 25 other NHL teams who'd kill to have the Canucks' problems but, for this team, the issue this season is the same as it's been for the last four seasons. They're good, but are they good enough to win the Stanley Cup? You know they're close and, this half-season, they've addressed some big areas...

Canucks vs. Chicago Blackhawks betting odds and handicapping preview

For the NHL Gamblers! Headline: Blackhawks Take Aim At History – Host Canucks Tuesday Night The hated Chicago Blackhawks could make a little history Tuesday night when they gun for their 16th straight game in which they have generated at least a point to start the season. Standing in their way from tying the 2006-2007 Anaheim Ducks (who went on to win the Cup that year) is the...

St Louis Blues vs. Canucks: Singing a Blue note

Shot By the Blues It’s amazing how well the Canucks have looked since Ryan Kesler‘s return, yet they have just one point to show for those two games. It’s almost a frustrating return to last year, where the Canucks just couldn’t translate on-ice performances into hockey wins. Maybe David Booth is the answer? Love ‘Em Kessassin It took just two games for Ryan Kesler to find...

Once More Unto the Breach

If any team is going to be successful they need more than just their stars to perform.  Everyone on the team has be able to step into the breach and save the team when it needs it.  The St. Louis Blues just endured a terrible five game losing streak after starting goalie Jaro Halak went down with an injury.  Backup Brian Elliot, who shared the Jennings Trophy for the best goalie...

Vancouver Canucks vs Chicago Blackhawks Game 14 notes, prediction & tweets!

Deep Diss Hockey The highly anticipated game between the Vancouver Canucks and their rival Chicago Blackhawks earlier this month was tremendously exciting as Vancouver won 2-1 in a shootout but it lacked that physical edge everyone was pining for. Far from revenge being exacted on Duncan Keith, it was probably the tamest game between the two teams in years in terms of physicality...

NHL Fights: Ryan Reaves Vs. Aaron Volpatti In A+ Ass Whippin’

You really gotta hand it to Vancouver Canucks tough guy Aaron Volpatti. Last night he brawled with St. Louis Blues enforcer Ryan Reaves. On Friday, he fought his former college teammate Ryan Garbutt of the Dallas Stars. That’s a busy weekend. As for last night’s scrap with Reaves, Volpatti might’ve picked the wrong bad dude to go with. Reaves had 13 NHL fights last season...

Jake Allen makes an amazing save against Calgary's T.J. Brodie

Friday night, Jake Allen was fresh off of his first NHL start and first NHL win, a 4-3 overtime victory against the Detroit Red Wings. Jaden Schwartz and Patrik Berglund had given him a 2-0 lead against the Calgary Flames to work with, but it very nearly became a 2-1 lead. "Very nearly," because this happened: Poor T.J. Brodie. Here he...
