Mikael Samuelsson lasted all of one game after a return from a groin injury before being hit with some more bad luck. Or, more specifically in this case, being hit by an Ian White shot.
Samuelsson left the ice early during Detroit’s pregame skate Tuesday in Nashville, after an errant shot from White struck Samuelsson on his left hand. MLive’s Ansar Khan reported after the Wings’ 4-3 overtime loss to the Predators that Samuelsson’s latest absence could linger.
Samuelsson’s left hand swollen badly. He said he’ll have x rays when swelling goes down, maybe tomorrow

The Wings play again Thursday night, back at the Joe against Columbus. Suffice it to say, Samuelsson’s status for that game has to be considered very much up in the air. Detroit is expected to have Johan Franzen back in the lineup by then, though Patrick Eaves filled in for Samuelsson Tuesday and provided a definite spark.
Regardless, the snake-bitten Red Wings find themselves dealing with yet another injury.
