After last night's 3-1 loss to Albany, Ct Whale head coach Ken Gernander discussed Rangers 2011 first round pick JT Miller, who scored the Whale's lone goal...

"Physically he's a strong kid...a powerful, explosive kid. On ice when he makes plays, he's very poised like a mature older player would be. But there are still some things in his game, as far as learning the pro game and learning some of the little nuances and just the temperament it takes to compete as a pro. I think he'll continue to mature in those areas."

For the rest of Gernander's post game presser, click here.

Here's video of Miller post game courtesy of Blueshirts United...

Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United adds that Gernander deployed Miller in all three phases of the game---power play, penalty kill, and even strength---and he did not look out of place at all.

...literally foaming at the mouth over this kid. Similar to Kreider falling to #19 in his draft, you have to wonder what the 14 teams who passed on Miller were concerned about?

In my recap of last night's Whale loss, I took a shot at Christian Thomas for disappointing, but to be fair I must pass along this observation of his play last night from Cerny...

"Thomas, in particular, impressed with his quick release, and quantity of scoring chances, including a tracer off the post in the opening period of a still 0-0 game."
