Lord Stanley's Blog:
What a week for the Canes. Rod Brind'Amour retires one day and Ray Whitney is gone the next.
Alexandre Picard and Brett Carson, like Whitney, were allowed to become unrestricted free agents. Unlike Whitney, neither has found a taker.
General manager Jim Rutherford said the team would not be aggressive in free agency come July 1, and he was true to his word. The Canes were very quiet.
Question: what should the Canes' next step be? Re-sign Picard or Carson? Re-sign Brian Pothier? Try to work a deal for Marc Staal? Find another D-man?
The floor is open.
