nhl.com I pretty much hate the world today, with the Patriots losing yesterday. Strangely, I found myself wanting my boyhood team to win that game yesterday as much or more than any when I was a real fan. That was in the top five, then, of all-time worst losses for me to endure. Number one will always be the Buckner game in 1986 which…well, let’s just move on. Some Avs thoughts: - It’s now five weeks and counting with Matt Duchene’s left knee injury. Will he resume skating today at practice? No one around the Avs seemed to know the answer to that question this morning. I guess we’ll have to see for our own eyes, when it starts at 10:30. There is two months left in the regular season. Time is starting to become a concern over his situation. The Avs have not fared well offensively in his absence. They’re getting a lot of shots on net at times, but need a finisher. - If I had to bet? Yeah, I’d say David Jones will be traded by Feb. 27. He̵...

Avalanche F Kobasew fined $2,500 by NHL (AP)

The NHL has fined Colorado Avalanche forward Chuck Kobasew for tripping Vancouver Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis. The league announced the $2,500 penalty on Monday. Kobasew received a minor penalty for tripping Hamhuis at 13:20 of the second period Saturday. The Canucks went on to beat the Avalanche 3-2 in a shootout.
