VAN - Aaron Volpatti (out for season), Steve Pinizzotto (out for season), Andrew Ebbett (collarbone, out), Keith Ballard (neck, out), Dale Weise (foot, day-to-day).

Three things to watch:
1. Getting a bit chippy

These two teams are no strangers to each other, playing for the fourth time this season. Back on December 6th, they met and the result was pretty gruesome. David Booth missed over a month due to a knee-on-knee hit from Kevin Porter while Maxim Lapierre knocked out Ryan Wilson with a concussion for weeks. Expect both teams to play a very physical game tonight in a matchup of two gritty Western Conference teams.
2. Fighting for their lives It's always fun to watch a desperate team, and right now, these Avs define desperate. Joe Sacco's bunch lost their last game and now sit three points out of a playoff seed. In other words they are a few losses away from possibly selling at the trade deadline. Expect the true competitors on this team to step up in their time of need.
3. Back at full strength Right now the Canucks are as healthy as they've been all season. They expect to get Christopher Higgins back in the lineup tonight which gives the team three balanced scoring lines. Most importantly, it gives the Canucks a chance to assess their depth up front. Look for the team to play at close to playoff level.
Final thought: Of the three meetings, the Canucks took the games 3-0, 6-0 and 3-2, respectively. This game likely finishes a bit closer with the Avs finally getting decent production out of their scoring lines. I'm guessing the Avs squeak out a win. Prediction: Avalanche 4, Canucks 3 (OT)

The rest of today’s predictions:
Penguins over Ducks
Canadiens over Bruins Panthers over Senators Oilers over Maple Leafs ---
