Wenatchee Wild assistant coach Chris Clark earned the ejection of the year on Saturday night during his team’s 2-1 loss in an NAHL game against the Kenai River Bears. It’s rare for a hockey coach to be tossed from a game to begin with, let alone going out the way Clark went out.

According to the Wenatchee World, head coach Bliss Littler had already been ejected before Clark went on his unique tirade. Armed with sunglasses and a hockey stick that he pretended was a white cane a visually impaired or blind person would use, Clark walked onto the ice and mocked the referees.

Prior to the ejection, the Wild had allowed the River Bears to break a 1-1 tie while shorthanded after their bench received a misconduct penalty that gave Kenai a powerplay. Clark apparently disagreed with the crucial call, which came with 11 minutes remaining in the game.

“I don’t know what he (the referee) could have heard from center ice with 3,500 (fans) screaming,” the associate head coach said.

Here’s my question — has Clark been arming himself with sunglasses on the bench and waiting for an opportunity to break out this act? Who brings sunglasses onto the bench during a hockey game? If he planned it out, more power to him. We’ve shown you some crazy ejections across sports before, but the blind man routine during a hockey game is something I don’t ever remember seeing. A+ for creativity.

  • LOL, that is awesome. Maybe not very PC, but still funny. Every sports team has been the victim of a bad call, he is just expressing his frustration and thoughts for the ref. Way to go coach.
  • That's great! As the saying goes: "He's blind, he's deaf, we need a new ref"
  • Hey, what if a blind person saw that???? lighten up point taken
