In case you haven't heard yet and live under a rock, the Los Angeles Kings won their first Stanley Cup in the franchise's history. Los Angeles was ranked eighth in the Western Conference going into the playoffs. Although, a week before the playoffs started, LA didn't know if they were going to even get into it.

The Los Angeles Kings defeated the top three seeds in the Western Conference, which was the first time ever in the NHL's history, before they went on to win the Stanley Cup against the New Jersey Devils in 5 games.

The Kings defeated the President's Trophy winner, Vancouver Canucks in five games in the WCQF. Secondly, LA sweeped the number two seed, St. Louis Blues in the WCSF. Thirdly, Los Angeles defeated the number three seed, Phoenix Coyotes in five games in the WCF. And now the Kings defeated the Devils in six games to win the Stanley Cup.

I can speak on behalf of every hockey fan when I'm saying this...

"We knew they were good, but not that good."

Please go to The Royal Half's blog on the fellow Bloguin network from a LA Kings fan's perspective once you are done reading this.

As a spectator watching the game at home on my sofa, I didn't see Game 6 play out the way it was supposed. The way the game was supposed to turn out was having a strong and fast first period by the Kings by getting a one goal lead going into the first intermission.

What happened in the first period was much different. Steve Bernier was the infamous star in the period and pretty much for the rest of the game. Bernier made a hit-from-behind on Rob Scuderi that drew blood, boarding major and a game misconduct. The five minute major ended the game right then and there.

Check out the video of the boarding call and what led to it.

There should have been a minor penalty on Jarret Stoll for the hit-from-behind on Stephen Gionta. That no call changed the perplexity of the game.

The Bernier boarding call allowed the Kings to score three goals by Dustin Brown, Jeff Carter and Trevor Lewis.

I don't even know how Steve Bernier could have confronted the rest of the team in the locker room in the first intermission and the rest of the game. If I was Bernier, I probably would have thrown up as soon as I realized what I did and apologized to the team.

Next was the second period where Jeff Carter scored early to take the 4-0 lead. As soon as that shot went in the net, the game, series and season was over.

The New Jersey Devils' Adam Henrique scored their only goal late in the second period and went into the second intermission with LA up 4-1.

The clock was ticking... tick, tick, tick while the true Kings fans were waiting for their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

10 minutes left...

Then, the Kings scored two quick goals and ended the series. An empty netter by Trevor Lewis and a goal by Matt Greene, fifteen seconds apart. That made it 6-1 LA.

5 minutes...

2 minutes...

1 minute...

5 seconds...

Game over, the Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup in six games. Congrats to the Los Angeles Kings for their Stanley Cup win!
