Day’s after the Chicago Black Hawks won the 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Championship, they were forced to make some roster menuvres to create a salary cap-friendly team. The Black Hawks would go through several off-season changes over the summer of 2010, but none of the moves were bigger than a trade which saw the Hawks’ send Dustin Byfuglien, Brent Sopel, Ben Eager, and Akim Aliu to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for two draft picks, Marty Reasoner, Joey Crabb, and Jeremy Morin.
To breakdown this mega-deal, the Thrashers received an all-star defenseman in Dustin Byfuglien, a strong prospect in Akim Aliu, a spare defenseman in Brent Sopel, and a tough-guy in Ben Eager. The Black Hawks would receive a veteran forward in Marty Reasoner (who was later traded to the Florida Panthers), two prospects in Joey Crabb and Jeremy Morin, and two draft picks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (a first round pick and a second round pick).
