TSN.ca reported two new rumors Monday afternoon, both from different sources. Here they are:
Nylander undergoes surgery, career in doubt
The report (via the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle) states that former New York Rangers forward Michael Nylander underwent potential career ending surgery on Monday, after injuring a vertebra in his neck.
The injury occurred Saturday when he was hit from behind by Grand Rapids Griffins defenceman Brendan Smith.
Nylander was later taken to a local hospital.
The 38-year-old is expected to undergo rehabilitation for at least six months before he can return.
Nylander had been playing for the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League after being loaned to the team by the Washington Capitals on September 30th.
He has played in 19 NHL seasons with the Hartford Whalers, Calgary Flames, Tampa Bay Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals. During those 19 seasons, he had played in 920 games, ...
