Courtesy of PhiladelphiaFlyers.com On Tuesday, six NHL owners met with a group of players in New York, just one day before the Board of Govenors meeting.  The meeting went for about five hours, then had a dinner break, and concluded sometime around midnight.  The sides met for more than eight hours.  From the sounds of the meetings, this was a very constructive day.  TSN's Bob McKenzie even stated that Tuesday, the NHL took a "significant step" in the right direction. The step was so significant that after the meetings, Bill Daly (representative for the owners) and Steve Fehr (representative for the players) held a joint press conference. The same exact group will meet again on Wednesday morning, prior to the 11am NHL Board of Governors meetings.  Today was a big step for the league in hopes of ending this thing.  Take it as you like, but here are some interesting quotes from Tuesday: "Appreciate the efforts of the players, I think everybody is working hard. I think everybofy wants to get a deal done, so I think that's encouraging. We look forward to making more progress tomorrow."---Bill Daly "Long day, constructive, best day we've had so far. I don't want to paint too rosy of a picture, there is still much to do."---Steve Fehr
