DETROIT - JUNE 06: Niklas Kronwall #55 of the Detroit Red Wings against the Pittsburgh Penguins during Game Five of the 2009 NHL Stanley Cup Finals at Joe Louis Arena on June 6, 2009 in Detroit, Michigan. (Photo by Claus Andersen/Getty Images)
Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McLeod utterly destroyed Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall from behind on this brutally illegal hit.  Kronwall was clearly concussed and was taken off on a stretcher, but is apparently doing okay.  McLeod will be suspended for his hit and deservedly so.  One of the most disgusting parts of this video is the way the Altitude announcers almost cheer the hit and say that Kronwall had it coming.  The Altitude announcers are well known for their bias and hatred towards the Red Wings, but this is flat-out disgusting and unacceptable to cheer an injury. Kronwall has a concussion; cuts to the ear but he's moving all extremities, being treating in locker room. #WinForNik — Detroit Red Wings (@DetroitRedWings) October 18, 2013 The Red Wings went on to win the game 4-2 and snapped the Avs perfect record.
