The refs in last nights Oilers-Kings game learned a very valuable lesson: don’t mess with Canadians and their hockey. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored what appeared to be the game tying goal with just over a minute left in the third period.
Goal horn went off. The referee, stationed right behind the net, signaled goal. Celebrations ensued.
Then they overturned the goal, citing a very questionable goaltender interference call.
In true WWF fashion, the fans went nuts. They littered the ice with everything from Vitamin Water bottles to pizza boxes. They then started up two of the loudest ‘bull-sh*t’ and ‘ref you suck’ chants we’ve heard in a long time.
Karma paid off. The Oilers scored with :05 seconds left to tie the game and eventually won the game 2-1 in overtime.
