Buffalo played without five regular contributors including defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, who suffered an upper-body injury in Friday's 3-1 loss at Washington. Making matters worse, Brad Boyes - who scored in Saturday's loss - and Jason Pominville left Monday's practice early.
Though Tyler Myers and Tyler Ennis are close to returning, the Sabres are struggling without their regular lineup.
