Found February 22, 2013 on Diehardsport:

Edmonton Oilers’ Taylor Hall is not known to be a dirty player, he’s only had one major penalty in his career prior to this.  But his hit on Thursday night on Minnesota Wild’s Cal Clutterbuck was extremely dirty.  With 17:27 left in the third period, and the Oilers losing 3-1, Hall threw his knee out and used his hip to drive through Clutterbuck, and Clutterbuck was immediately writhing in pain.  Hall was given a 5-minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct. Clutterbuck ended up traveling with the team to Calgary but he’s definitely still hurt: He was stopped at the Zamboni entrance and put onto a stretcher, then wheeled to the Oilers medical room. I saw him with ice and a bandage just above the left knee as he was being wheeled. Taylor Hall faces a disciplinary hearing on Friday, and is almost guaranteed to be suspended.  The only question that remains is how long will he be suspended. [YouTube]

Taylor Hall’s hit on Cal Clutterbuck: Dirty for a different reason

First, take a look at the video put together by SBNation of the hit Taylor Hall had on Cal Clutterbuck last night. I’m not a scholar of the NHL, despite my other gig at Barry Melrose Rocks, so you are all entitled to your own opinions, but to me, it looked like Taylor Hall had intent to hit Cal Clutterbuck. That’s the problem with the hit, in my mind. What I don’t believe...

Hall suspended for 'reckless' hit on Clutterbuck

Minnesota Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck has seemingly avoided a major injury after taking a lethal knee-on-knee hit from Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall Thursday night, but Hall won't be avoiding suspension. The NHL announced a two-game ban for Hall, the first of his young career, after a vicious hit on Clutterbuck in Thursday's 3-1 Minnesota win in Edmonton. Hall, who...

Taylor Hall Takes Ballsy Cheap Shot on Cal Clutterbuck’s Knee

Edmonton winger Taylor Hall did not appear to having fun during the Oilers’ 3-1 home loss to Minnesota on Thursday, therefore elected to liven things up with a ballsy hit on the Wild’s Cal Clutterbuck. The cheap shot to Clutterbuck’s knee occured with less than three minutes remaining in a two-goal game, immediately drawing a game misconduct and less-than-inviting reactions...

Oilers' Taylor Hall faces hearing for dirty hit on Clutterbuck

Let’s see if the league has two sets of rules again, one set of rules for super stars and one set of rules for goons and third and fourth line players. Taylor Hall might be a super star, but if a star starts racking up questionable and dirty hits, his actions will start catching up with him. Hall is also starting to develop a history with the Wild players as he also was also...

Taylor Hall Lays Leg Check on Cal Clutterbuck, Receives Game Misconduct (Video)

When former No. 1 overall pick Taylor Hall makes headlines, it’s usually for a nifty goal, a dandy set-up or any other offensive play that comes with a flashy adjective. On Thursday night, however, he caught the hockey world’s attention for one of the most gruesome acts in the sport. With under three minutes to go in the Wild-Oilers game, Hall caught Cal Clutterbuck drifting...

Taylor Hall knees Cal Cluterbuck

This is a pretty vicous hit and then some, via We All Bleed Red on YouTube (with both feeds): From NHL.com: Minnesota forward Cal Clutterbuck had to be helped off the ice late in the third period of Thursday's 3-1 victory at Edmonton with what appeared to be an injured left leg. Edmonton's Taylor Hall received a five-minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct...

Hall Facing Suspension

With the Oilers’ record falling, and the short season becoming shorter, there is no room for error. There is especially no room for lengthy suspensions due to atrocious hits. But that’s exactly what we can expect as the reaction from the league to Taylor Hall’s knee on knee hit on Cal Clutterbuck in Edmonton Thurdsay night. Continue reading "Hall Facing Suspension"

Taylor Hall takes out Cal Clutterbuck’s knee with dirty hit (Video)

Edmonton Oilers winger Taylor Hall threw a vicious hit on Cal Clutterbuck of the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. Hall is awaiting a disciplinary hearing with NHL vice president of player safety Brendan Shanahan on Friday afternoon, but there has been no shortage of cries for the 21-year-old to be suspended from those who watched the play live or have seen the replay. The puck...

Oilers' Hall suspended two games for kneeing

Personally, I would have like to have seen Hall suspended for three or four games. Oh well. Justice has been served. I also don't believe the logic that you can't hit someone in the open ice, going forward. Just don't lead with your knee. In my opinion, this was a deliberate attempt by Hall to hurt Cal Clutterbuck. Clutterbuck didn't even touch the puck, go back...

Taylor Hal cheap shot on Cal Clutterbuck

First off, this is a text book knee-on-knee hit, it's a bush league hit, it's dirty and it deserves a suspension. I do not care that Taylor Hall is a super star. I also, find it hilarious that Edmonton Oilers fans are defending this hit on twitter tonight. Second; would the NHL referees, please stop rescuing the players that do hits on the ice. Let the players have some...
