While still looking at off-ice options too as he told everyone he will be making a decision by mid-September. Many fans in Dallas and around the NHL are wondering what the greatest American born player in NHL history is going to do. Will he or will he not retire? He has a lot to think about before he makes his decision. Modano is the all-time goal scoring and point leader amongst the American-born players in the National Hockey League. If he does decide to retire, the NHL will be losing a great leader and someone who has changed the face of American born hockey. He was a big influence in the Stars cup run in 1999.
