Rangers Review:
What makes a good team a great team? It’s not just about having multiple extended winning streaks. That’s important for sure, but it’s not the most important thing. To me, the most important thing is to minimize losing streaks. You are going to lose. The Russians lost to a bunch of kids from Minnesota and Wisconsin in 1980, any team can lose on any given day. What separates the pretenders from the contenders are the ability to stop losing streaks in their tracks right away. You don’t allow 1 loss to balloon into 4, 5, 6, 7 losses in a row. Or else it takes a Herculean effort to right that wrong. A 5 game win streak followed by a 5 game losing streak is still just .500 hockey after all.
That’s the most impressive thing about this team, and really, if not for a nightmare travel schedule to star the season the may have had an even better record than what they have now. Who gets the credit? The same guy I semi-ripped into in my last writeup. Coa...

Rangers Refuse to Give Sean Avery Up Despite Interest Being Shown Around League
It's been several weeks now since the New York Rangers placed forward Sean Avery on waivers and later assigned him to the Connecticut Whale of the AHL, where he is playing now. Being that it was the second time the Blueshirts had put Sean through this process, many, myself included, felt that they should have put him out of his misery and sent him to another organization within...
Pregame: Rangers Seek Improvement Against Leafs
The New York Rangers cannot win every game on their schedule, and everyone knows that, but Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Ottawa Senators at Madison Square Garden was unacceptable. By climbing to the top of the standings with repeated winning streaks, the Rangers have set the expectations ultra high for themselves this season. Therefore, losing a game in which they had opportunity...
Better Relief Celebration: Boyle or Dubinsky?
During last night's 3-0 Rangers victory over Toronto, Brian Boyle scored his first goal in 22 games and celebrated by looking to the heavens and giving thanks (video here)...Which was very reminiscent of Brandon Dubinsky's celebration after waiting 15 games to score his first goal of the season (video here)......so the question is, who had the better relief goal celebration...
Inevitable Rangers @ Canadiens Post Game Thoughts…
Rangers don’t win in Montreal. Period. Anyone who is shocked we lost should have their head examined. We don’t win in Montreal. WE DON’T WIN IN MONTREAL. Rangers should just concede these 2 games every year and not even make the trip.
That’s all I’m going to say on this game. Honestly, I probably should have just written this one before the game...
Did Sean Avery Spit On His Minor League Hockey Coach?
Sean Avery, now playing for the Connecticut Whale in the AHL, was a healthy scratch last night for what the Rangers are calling "disciplinary reasons." It remains unclear, however, what required the discipline. The rumor spreading on Twitter is that he was benched for spitting on his coach.More »

The London Knights welcomed their two new stars to the John Labatt Center this past weekend having played two games in green jerseys on the road thus far. Doug Gilmour's Kingston Frontenacs were in the building, with former Knight goalie, Igor Bobkov, ready to prove something to his old team.

Rangers-Canadiens Preview
The New York Rangers supplied more than enough offense to bounce back from their first defeat of the new year.
They hope that sort of production continues at Montreal, where goals have been hard to come by for the Rangers in recent years.
Having been shut out in their last two road games against the Canadiens and mired in a five-game losing streak at the Bell Centre, the Rangers...
Biron makes 20 saves, Rangers beat Maple Leafs 3-0
New York backup Martin Biron made 20 saves, and the Rangers bounced back from a streak-busting loss to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-0 on Saturday night.
Game 45: Habs/Rangers
Following a tough shootout loss at home last night, the Canadiens welcome (begrudgingly) the New York Rangers to town who are fresh off of a 3-0 victory against the Maple Leafs. Marty Biron started in net (and played fantastically), which will leave the Habs to face Lundqvist. I guess Torterella wasn’t about to start Biron in Montreal after the 4-0 victory Montreal scored earlier...
