Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron was forced to leave Tuesday’s game after suffering a blow to the head at the 12:16 mark of the second period.
Bergeron was hit by Senators forward Colin Greening while battling for a puck in the Boston defensive zone and skated directly to the Bruins bench after the hit, hinting at an issue right away.
The team announced during the second intermission that the alternate captain would not return to Tuesday’s game. Given Bergeron’s concussion history, coaches and teammates alike have to be concerned with the veteran’s well-being moving forward.
Fans may recall that Bergeron suffered a grade-three concussion in 2007, when he was checked into the boards by Randy Jones. He missed the rest of the 2007-08 season, and a second concussion in 2008 set him back once more. A third head injury during the 2011 playoffs also sidelined Bergeron for multiple games, but he was able to return and help lead the Bruins to a Stanley Cup victory.
BEST OF MAXIM
Tyler Seguin has been heating up the past several games, and he continued his success against Ottawa. Seguin has two goals and two assists over the past four games. His 12 shots Tuesday night resulted in a goal and helped revive a struggling Bruins offense.
With the uncertainty of linemate Patrice Bergeron, Seguin knows he will have to step up to fill Bergeron’s shoes if the alternate...
The Bruins and Sabres combined for 97 shots Tuesday night, and it felt like Tyler Seguin was responsible for about half of them. In reality, the Bruins forward only had 12 shots to his name, but that aggressive play is certainly a positive indicator given the team’s recent offensive slump.
Seguin scored once, Nathan Horton and David Krejci added goals of their own and Anton Khudobin...

So the Bruins acquired Jaromir Jagr on Tuesday afternoon. Now what?
Bruins president Cam Neely made his weekly radio appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub just hours after the deal that brought the future Hall of Famer to Boston became official.
Neely sounded happy with the ability to land a player like Jagr, who at 41, still appears to have something left in the tank. At the very least...
Well that escalated quickly Here is the Dallas Stars beat writer:
Jaromir Jagr to Boston. I’m hearing two prospects and a draft pick.

Just about an hour ago, ESPN’s Pierre Lebrun said that the Boston Bruins were the front-runners for Jaromir Jagr and it looks like the Boston Bruins have him. It’s not super official yet, and as we learned...

Before Sunday, the Bruins had won just two out of their last seven games.
The B’s are hoping Sunday’s 2-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres was just the spark they needed heading down the stretch of the regular season. While the win was not a cure-all for the team’s issues, it was certainly a step in the right direction.
Coach Claude Julien admitted the B’s recent losses were...
Obviously the big aquisiton for the Bruins was Jaromir Jagr, but we all knew Chiarelli wasn't done. The defense this year hadn't been spectacular and Chiarelli said he wanted to add a defenseman to the mix. A lot of fans wanted someone like Yandle or Ryan or Boyle -- either the NHL unicorn (PMD) to help on the power play or a shut down defenseman to help what's...
First the Boston Bruins went after Brenden Morrow, who went to the Pittsburgh Penguins instead. Then the team believed they had a deal for Jarome Iginla . . . who also ended up with the Penguins.
With the trade deadline closing in, the Bruins pried hockey legend Jaromir Jagr away from the Dallas Stars for a conditional draft pick and prospects Lane MacDermid and Cody Payne.
EDIT: It's now official:
Confirming # Stars Jagr to #Bruins is for 2nd pick and 2 prospects.Pick changes depending on how Bruins do.#TradeTracker

Because this would set the stage for the Bruins eliminating the Penguins from the playoffs far too nicely.
Told the Dallas Stars have decided to...
After missing out on Michael Ryder, Brenden Morrow, and Jarome Iginla, you had a feeling that it was going to take an army of Ray Shero's to make it four straight strikeouts for general manager Peter Chiarelli and the Boston Bruins.
But without the Pens to swipe in at the last moment (You'd hope -- strike that, pray), Chiarelli's fourth deadline attempt to bolster...
