Toronto Maple Leafs
Pascal Dupuis scored two of Pittsburgh's three goals in the third period, and the Penguins stormed back to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1 on Thursday night and win their seventh game in a row.
Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves for Pittsburgh (20-8), which defeated the Maple Leafs 5-4 in a shootout in Toronto five days earlier. Craig Adams sealed this win by scoring into an empty net with 10 seconds left.
Tyler Bozak had the lone goal for Toronto (15-12-1), which has dropped four in a row. Ben Scrivens made 25 saves.
Tied 1-1 in the third, Chris Kunitz fed Dupuis in the slot for a shot that beat Scrivens and found the top corner with 2:10 left in regulation.
Pittsburgh trailed 1-0 after two periods but tied it when Kunitz won a puck battle in the Toronto zone and found Sidney Crosby. The Penguins captain then fired a backhanded, no-look pass to Dupuis, who beat a helpless Scrivens at 12:42.
Maple Leafs center Leo Komarov had a breakaway with just over three minutes to go, af...

We here at Outside the Boxscore love trick shots and this one comes to us from the world of hockey as Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin showed off his scoring ability.
Watch as he flips a puck from center ice into a bucket near a goal with little effort:

It might come as a surprise for Penguins fans to learn that a Hall-of-Fame defenseman skated for the team in the mid-to-late 1970s. No, it wasn’t shot-blocker extraordinaire Dave Burrows or even Norris Trophy winner Randy Carlyle. His name was Bob Paradise, and he was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1989.

A few people didn’t like that I suggested that Jay McClement was a bad player in yesterday’s Mikhail Grabovski post so I thought I would provide a visual representation of McClement’s mediocrity in the form of 5v5 Zone Start adjusted CF% WOWY charts for each of the past 6 seasons (this season included). Let’s start with [...]The post Visual WOWY representation of Jay McClement’s...
If the answer is yes, check out Sidney Crosby's pass to Pascal Dupuis tonight.

The last Pens/Leafs game from a few days ago was an entertaining contest, except for the Malkin injury of course. The Pens needed a shootout to triumph over the Leafs last time. What will happen tonight with the Pens looking to win seven...
The Pittsburgh Penguins have prevailed in a number of close games during their season-high win streak, including last weekend's visit to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
With Evgeni Malkin likely out for a third straight game, the Penguins will try to get past the slumping Maple Leafs again and earn a seventh consecutive victory Thursday night.
Pittsburgh (19-8-0) has won by one goal...
The Ducks have acquired forward David Steckel from the Toronto Maple Leafs for minor leaguer Ryan Lasch and a seventh-round draft pick in 2014.
In Steckel, the Ducks acquired a player that teams with championship dreams often try to land approaching the NHL trading deadline. Steckel is a face-off specialist. In short, the acquisition cost was comparatively low to add a piece to...
When I heard that the Toronto Maple Leafs lost a thriller to Pittsburgh in a shoot out, I was quite pleased that they got at least one point. After all, their next opponent would be the Winnipeg Jets. A team that has been struggling lately.
I thought for sure that Leafs would get an easy two points off the Jets. Wrong.
At a time where I didn’t want Winnipeg’s goalie, Ondrej...
from Joe Starkey of the Pittsburgh Triibune-Review,
At some point late in the Penguins' thrilling victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, it struck me: Ray Shero is the best trader in the NHL.
What's more, he is the best trader in Penguins history — better than Craig Patrick.
Even before Brandon Sutter's dramatic game-winner, a quick glance at the Penguins...
While many expected a tight race in the Atlantic Division, Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins appear to be head and shoulders above the competition.
That shouldn't come as much of a surprise to the New York Rangers.
Hoping to stay unbeaten in March, Pittsburgh tries for a seventh consecutive victory over New York as these division rivals square off in a matinee showdown...
Penguins 3, Bruins 2
In a matchup of a few Eastern Conference favorites, the Bruins and Penguins had their first meeting of this condensed season on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. While the Bruins came out of the gate strong and put up two early goals in the first period, they wound up choking away another lead and falling on their face as the Penguins reeled off three unanswered tallies...
The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired defenseman Kevin Marshall from the Washington Capitals for forward Nicolas Deschamps.
Marshall played in 52 games with the American Hockey League's Hershey Bears this season. He had a goal and four assists with 77 penalty minutes.
The 24-year-old Marshall was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round in 2007. Marshall played...
For the second time this week, the Pittsburgh Penguins used a three-goal third period to steal a win. This time they came back on the Toronto Maple Leafs and picked up a 3-1 win, their seventh in a row. Pascal Dupuis scored twice to fuel the Penguins as they picked up their 20th win of the season.
SPIN: The line of Dupuis, Crosby and Kunitz is one of the hottest in the league and...
