It’s safe to say the New York Islanders are happy with John Tavares’ NHL debut tonight against the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins. After all, a goal and an assist in your first NHL game is nothing to sneeze at. But in the end, it was the Penguins who got the last laugh, scoring a late third period goal to tie the game, and eventually winning it on Sidney Crosby’s shootout goal for a final score of 4-3.
