The Pittsburgh Penguins put a two-game losing streak to bed Monday night in Newark as they dominated the New Jersey Devils in a 5-0 shutout performance. Penguins Dany Sabourin got the call in net from coach Therrien and responded perfectly with his first shutout, assisted by the excellent play of his teammates.
The Penguins jumped out to a 2-goal lead in the first period. The first goal came at 12:09 on the power play from the stick of Sidney Crosby. Petr Sykora and Sergei Gonchar assisted on the goal to keep the Penguins power play streak alive. The goal extended the Penguins' man-advantage goal streak to 14 consecutive games, tying the franchise record last attained in 1988-89. The goal also extended Sidney Crosby's point scoring streak to 13 games, a new career high.
