Red Wings interim back-up goalie and top prospect Petr Mrazek's received as much attention for the image of Family Guy's Peter Griffin on his goalie mask, which is a creation of something of a legend in the mask-painting industry in David Gunnarson, but MLive's Ansar Khan and the Detroit News's Ted Kulfan found out that just because Petr Mrazek may indeed be a "Super Griffin," that doesn't necessarily make him a fan of the show:
“Our (equipment manager Brad Thompson) in Grand Rapids gave me that idea because he said my name is Petr and I play for the Griffins, so they Peter Griffin on it,'' Mrazek said.
He said he has received some good comments about the design, which he had done about three weeks ago. But, he's not a fan of the show.
“I don't watch that show, I saw just a couple of commercials,'' Mrazek said. "But, I like the idea.''
Definitely not a fan, as the ever-blunt Mrazek told Kulfan:

Earlier in this young NHL season, pictures of the facemask of then-backup Red Wings goalie Thomas McCollum made their internet debut. McCollum has a liking of the late Chris Farley’s character Tommy Boy. Apparently the sense of humor is a trend among Wings backup netminders as the current Jimmy Howard backup, Petr Mrazek, has a different funny guy on his mask. The 20-year old...

Petr Mrazek should start in net for the Detroit Red Wings when they take on the St. Louis Blues tonight. I don't know an awful lot about the young netminder, but I do know this one fact. It should be him and not Howard to take on the central division rivals in action this evening.
The reasons for this are few and simple.
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Petr Mrazek made 26 saves in his NHL debut, leading the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
Detroit halted a two-game skid with its second win in three tries against St. Louis this season.

Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock tossed Petr Mrazek into a tough spot, asking the rookie netminder to make his NHL debut on the road against the St. Louis Blues. Mrazek responded, delivering 26 saves in a convincing 5-1 victory.
After the final horn sounded, Mrazek felt the love from his teammates — including No. 1 goalie Jimmy Howard.

All of a sudden that 6-0 opening season loss to the Blues seems like a long time ago.
Thursday night the Wings defeated St. Louis 5-1 behind an impressive performance by rookie goaltender Petr Mrazek and the third and fourth lines.

The Wings just caved in the collective faces of the Blues for the second consecutive time since the opening night fiasco (that's my punk band name for the week... nailed it) and I should be pretty stoked about the final score of 5-1. Petr Mrazek played very well, but there is one moment that stands out to me from this game.
