Pittsburgh Penguins (13-7-0) @ Carolina Hurricanes (9-8-1) ROOT, FS-CR, NHLN-US - 7:00 pm/et PNC Arena - Raleigh, NC With Evgeni Malkin injured, Brandon Sutter has had to step up and move outside of his typical third line center role. Jordan Staal knows a thing or two about that situation. Tonight the Pittsburgh Penguins face Jordan Staal for the first time. His trade at the draft in Pittsburgh was a big deal and it changed the team. We've gone into detail about what Jordan Staal meant to the Pens more than once. However, now we've got to put on a brave face and see Jordan as the enemy: Don't worry though. We totally prepared for this: Yeah, this post is almost entirely Simpsons references. When you combine the classic Hurricane Neddy episode with the fact that the Hurricanes have players named "Skinner" and "McBain", we really have no other choice. We just wish Carolina had traded for Ben Lovejoy. Season Series: 0-0-0 Last meeting that counted: January 17, 2012. Penguins won 2-1 [SO]. What we said in our recap: James Neal and Evgeni Malkin all day every day. Neal and Malkin have developed inexhaustible chemistry. Malkin got another goal, James Neal got the shootout game winner. Pens get three straight wins setting up a huge game against the Rangers on Thursday. MAF was damn near flawless as well. Paul Martin refuses to score any goals. Know Your Enemy: Canes Country What they're saying: Weird... Awkward... These are a couple of the words used to describe the feelings of Jordan Staal and Brandon Sutter when asked about facing their former teams for the first time as the Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at the PNC Arena. Both skaters have been productive for their teams and no one is complaining about the blockbuster trade, yet. But the Hurricanes gave up much more than just Sutter to unite the brothers Staal. Brian Dumoulin, the top rated defenseman in the Canes system also went to Pittsburgh, as well as the eighth overall pick in last year's draft. The final results of this trade won't be known for several years to come but in the meantime, this is a special night for both players as they face their former mates and good friends for the first time. Pittsburgh Penguins Lines: Kunitz - Crosby - Neal Bennett - Sutter - Dupuis Cooke- Jeffrey - Kennedy Glass - Vitale - Adams Orpik - Martin Niskanen - Letang Despres - Engelland Fleury Carolina Hurricanes Lines: Tlusty - E.Staal - Semin Skinner - J.Staal - LaRose Jokinen - Nash - Dwyer Bowman - Brent - Wallace Harrison - Faulk Corvo - McBain Gleason - Sanguinetti Ward Lines via Daily Faceoff. Do It. Go Pens.
