Pittsburgh Penguins (30-10-0) @ Tampa Bay Lightning (17-20-2) ROOT, NBCSN, TSN - 7:30 pm/et Tampa Bay Times Forum - Tampa, FL Kris Letang is back. Season Series: 2-0-0 Last meeting that counted: March 4, 2013. Penguins won 4-3. What we said in our recap: Two years ago, Sidney Crosby returned from a concussion against the Lightning, and it set back the Penguins for a long time. Last night, Evgeni Malkin returned from a concussion against the Lightning, and it may elevate the Pens to a different level. It may not even be a "different" level. It could simply be the level the Pens are supposed to be at. 71 and 87 turned the tide on consecutive shifts in the third period. Can't even remember the last time they did something like that. Poor coaching, poor personnel decisions, and still some flawed play be damned; when the big boys are rolling, they can change the game just like that. Know Your Enemy: Raw Charge What t...

Kris Letang destroys two Lightning players with one check

In his first game back since getting re-injured on March 26th, and only his 2nd game since March 17th, Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang had one of the best hits of the year.  Letang drilled Tampa Bay Lightning forward Alex Killorn who went flying right into Martin St. Louis after he had just passed St. Louis the puck.  Letang’s momentum then carried him into the two...

Photo’s from Pittsburgh’s NCAA Frozen Fest and Frozen Four Championship

There is an awesome crowd this afternoon at the NCAA 2013 Frozen Fest here at the Consol Energy Center home of the Pittsburgh Penguins.  While we are not sure who the genius is that scheduled the out of town Penguins’ games this weekend at the same time as the tournament, we are all very happy to own DVR’s.  Aside from PenguinPoop’s Champ Kind having to tell the MC that he...

Lightning collapse against the Penguins

Thursday night’s game did not provide any kind of hope for the Lightning’s playoff chances. Frustrations flared and tempers mounted in their 6-3 loss to Pittsburgh. The Bolts defense was offensive once again. They allowed 41 shots on goal and had strings of bad penalties in their defensive zone. And four of the six Pittsburgh goals were on a power play. The offense wasn’t...

Pittsburgh Penguins rink managers have Notre Dame-esque motto

The rink managers at the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Console Energy Center seem to have a sense of humor.  They copied the iconic Notre Dame motto “Play Like A Champion Today” and made their own.  When you Zamboni the ice, it’s commonly known as “flooding” the ice, hence the motto. [@A_Merrit] [ESPN.com]

TIME FOR DA PUNS

Stormed last night in Pittsburgh and today we play the Bolts.Root is just spazzing over the pun possibilities. We're going to try to avoid it, but if they total 2 goals in the game...There's going to have to be a striking twice joke. So sorry in advance. Let's get to the awards.  MOST POWERFUL OVERLORDSid shows up in a suit. He's watching.Waiting.BEST RESULTS...

Penguins-Panthers Preview

While they're still missing several key players, the Pittsburgh Penguins have had little trouble generating offense the last two games as they continue their push for the best record in the Eastern Conference. That trend could continue Saturday night as they visit a last-place Florida Panthers team that's allowed the most goals in the conference by far. Seeking their fourth...

GIF: Douglas Murray wants to dance.

Fights are almost pointless anymore. But sometimes they still have some luster. Case and point Douglas Murray vs B.J Crombeen. Crombeen started trolling, and Murray was like " let's dance."   Couldn't help but get excited when they showed it was Murray. The fight wasn't great, but Murray got few good licks in, also probably hurt his hand:

QUICK CAP: Pens destroy Bolts 6-2.

This game was close. Then it wasn't. Jussi Jokinen scored twice including this beauty: Jussi with points in three straight games. Kunitz, Malkin, Dupes, and.... Tanner Glass scored. Three straight wins all of sudden.

RECAP: All Easy Mode. PENS WIN.

Rewind back to the end of the Flyers series last season. What would your brain have done if you could've seen the Pens' stat lines in this game? Jussi Jokinen: 2G, 1A. Jarome Iginla: 2A. Brenden Morrow: 1A. Douglas Murray: 1A. wtf. Three things about this game. 1. The Pens are the deepest they've been since the '09 Cup run.  2. Tampa Bay sucks. 3...
