The Pittsburgh Penguins have officially recalled forward Colin McDonald from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for tonight’s game against the New York Rangers. McDonald has eight goals and 28 points in 33 games with the AHL’s Penguins this season, and hasn’t skated in the NHL since playing two games with the Edmonton Oilers during the 2009-10 season.
The 27-year-old was named to the AHL All-Star team yesterday along with defenseman Simon Despres, and practiced on the fourth line in today’s morning skate.
Here are the team’s full lines from the skate:
Chris Kunitz – Evgeni Malkin – James Neal
Pascal Dupuis – Jordan Staal – Tyler Kennedy
Steve Sullivan – Richard Park – Matt Cooke
Craig Adams – Joe Vitale – McDonald
(Steve MacIntyre)
It looks like Steve Sullivan will play tonight after missing yesterday’s practice with an illness, though he is officially a game-time decision.

The Sidney Crosby concussion vs. the economics of the NHL
Yahoo! Sports NHL columnist Nick Cotsonika marked a dubious anniversary on Thursday: One year to the day that Sidney Crosby was hit from behind by Victor Hedman.
The ensuing concussion recovery kept the Pittsburgh Penguins captain out through the end of last season until Nov. 21 of this season. Crosby returned with a 4-point night. He had 12 points in eight games. He hasn't played...
Bad Dive - Rangers 3, Penguins 1
So what happened?
If you're going to do the dive play in a two-on-one, you can't let the man with the puck walk around you to the middle of the ice. Unfortunately that's exactly what happened to Matt Niskanen when he dove and slid right past Ryan Callahan, turning a two-on-one into a two-on-none. Flower had no chance as Callahan passed the puck to Dubinsky for the...

The Penguins have some work to do. Two points ahead of ninth-place New Jersey, Pittsburgh does not have a track record of success against the Rangers in recent years. In 2010-11, the Pens went 2-3-1 against New York, including an 0-2-1 mark at CONSOL Energy...
