Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins Series Tied 0-0 NBCSN, CBC, RDS - 7:30 pm/et Consol Energy Center - Pittsburgh, PA Here it is: the series that the media and Eugene Melnyk so desperately wanted. The Pittsburgh Penguins and Matt Cooke, the man who absolutely-on-purpose-injured-Erik-Karlsson-and-forensic-evidence-will-prove-it-and-also-he-likes-to-talk-about-reporter-penises, will face off against the Ottawa Senators. The media sideshow is fun and all, but it's not going to win hockey games. Also, it's not fun. The Ottawa Senators allowed nine goals in five games against the Montreal Canadiens, and three of those goals were in game two. Craig Anderson has a .950 save percentage. He's not Evgeni Nabokov. The Pittsburgh Penguins will need to be better than they were against the New York Islanders if they want to win. Much better. Last meeting that counted: April 22, 2013. Penguins won 3-1. Penguins fan with gross team spirit

I… I really don’t even know what to say about this.  How the hell does one even have that much body hair to do something like this?  And at what point did this seem like a good idea to walk around the concourse like this? Oh wait, it’s Pittsburgh?  Hell, this probably isn’t even the weirdest body hair arrangement at the game tonight.

Vokoun starting in goal for Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins are sticking with goaltender Tomas Vokoun for Game 1 of their second-round playoff series against Ottawa on Tuesday. The 36-year-old Vokoun replaced struggling starter Marc-Andre Fleury and won Games 5 and 6 of Pittsburgh's first-round playoff series with the New York Islanders last week. He stopped 66 of the 69 shots he faced against the Islanders as...

Don Cherry thinks the Senators are a bit feminine

That didn't take long. The second round just got underway and Don Cherry already said something that angered fans, specifically those supporting the Ottawa Senators. What did he say this time? He ripped on the Ottawa Senators for a variety of things outside of their play on the ice, alluding to the fact that they have some feminine qualities.  Cherry slams Daniel Alfredsson...

Penguins Fans shaves “Let’s Go Pens” into his chest

A Pittsburgh Penguins fan at the Penguins-Ottawa Senators game showed off some gross dedication by shaving “Let’s Go Pens” into his chest.  While it’s preferable that fans don’t do this, at least he did a good job with it. [@EmptyNetters]

Sidney Crosby is a Finalist for the Masterton

Another award nomination for Sid and for a member of the Penguins. From the NHL: Crosby, 25, missed most of the previous two seasons dealing with concussion issues, and then the first half of the 2012-13 season -- along with the rest of the League -- during the lockout. Questions were asked if Crosby ever could be the same player he was prior to his injuries. Instead, he returned...

NHL playoffs: Ottawa Senators at Pittsburgh Penguins

Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins get second round started.

Crosby, Harding, McQuaid up for Masterton Trophy

Penguins star Sidney Crosby, Wild goaltender Josh Harding and Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid are this season's nominees for the NHL's Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The award is presented to ''the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.'' Crosby returned to form this year after missing extended...

Senators vs. Penguins Preview

Mack – Senators Elaine – Penguins   The Ottawa Senators are heading into the second round of the playoffs with tons of momentum. They beat the second seed Montreal Canadiens in game 5 with a commanding 6-1 victory to close out the series 4 to 1. The whole team contributed, but most of the help [...]

Round Two, Game One: Penguins-Senators Recap

No one really likes to admit it but a lot of things change in the NHL playoffs as compared to the regular season. Fighting virtually disappears. Teams make a conscious effort to play smarter. Power play opportunities become even more precious than they normally are. Apparently the Ottawa Senators didn’t receive that memo. Know what…

Ray Shero is a Finalist for the General Manager of the Year Award

We totally forgot this was even an award. From the NHL: Shero made the seventh season of his tenure in Pittsburgh an active one. Unable to sign Jordan Staal, he traded the third-line center to the Carolina Hurricanes for his replacement, the solid Brandon Sutter, and also acquired backup goalie Tomas Vokoun. And then at the NHL Trade Deadline, he acquired forwards Jarome...

Senators-Penguins Preview

The celebration, at least by the typically all-business standards of the Pittsburgh Penguins, appeared a little over the top. The second Brooks Orpik's slapshot ripped into the back of the net 7:49 into overtime last Saturday to give the Penguins a 4-3 overtime win and a first-round playoff series victory over the better-than-advertised New York Islanders, Orpik's teammates...

NHL playoffs: Best of Tuesday

Ottawa Senators pest Chris Neil is nasty and a pain to play against, but it looks like Brooks Oprik found a way to one-up him during Game 1, which the Penguins won 4-1 at Consol Energy Center. The Penguins defenseman gave Neil a double-cup-check during the third period. Neil's one tough dude. Brooks' first cup check actually lifts Neil off of his feet! Orpik was all over...

Pittsburgh Penguins/Ottawa Senators Game One: Tuesday, 7:30pm
