How To Beat The Goalie

Yes, it is another edition of "How To Beat The Goalie". The projected starting goalie is Richard Bachman. He is a back-up to Kari Lehtonen, but since Lehtonen started last night against the Phoenix Coyotes, I am expecting Bachman to start.

Richard Bachman is going to be a little shaky going into this game because he hasn't started since February 2nd in San Jose, when he lost the game, 5-2. Bachman has only played in 13 games so far this season, so that tells you that the Stars are leaning on Lehtonen a lot. In this next section, I am going to tell you readers, what Mitch Korn is telling the players.
Like many goalies, Bachman can't stop tip-ins. With Patric Hornqvist out, someone has to step up by getting in front of Bachman to deflect the puck. Also, it might just be me, but Bachman over-commits (comes out of his crease) a bit much. So, keep your eye out for that.

Thoughts On Both Teams

The Dallas Stars look to bounce back after a tough, overtime loss to the Phoenix Coyotes, 2-1 last night. The Dallas Stars are missing several of their key pieces. Jamie Benn, Brendan Morrow and Sheldon Souray should be out for the game. Dallas has already made their trade before the deadline by dealing Nicklas Grossman to the Philadelphia Flyers for a couple draft picks. Ryan Garbutt has been re-called from the Texas Stars. In 50 games this season, he has scored 16 Goals, 17 Assists. I am expecting him to be a scratch to put Toby Petersen in the line-up.

The Nashville Predators are also looking to bounce back after a devastating loss to the Detroit Red Wings after Pavel Datsyuk scored the game winning goal with 5 seconds left in the game. Hal Gill will make his debut with the Nashville Predators, more on Gill down the page. The Predators will be missing Patric Hornqvist and Brian McGrattan for this game because they are on IR. With Hornqvist on Injured Reserve, Nashville will not have an extra forward on the roster. I am looking to see David Poile make a deal for a forward or calling up a player from the Milwaukee Admirals.

Hal Gill's First Game

6'7" defenseman, Hal Gill, will play his first game for the Nashville Predators. Gill was acquired Friday from the Montreal Canadiens. Listen to Willy and Tom talk to him in the Pre-Game Show: http://predators.nhl.com/club/podcastplayer.htm?pid=30&iid=37236&navid=DL|NSH|home

Hal Gill's stats aren't all flashy at all, 1 Goal 7 Assists in 53 Games. But, David Poile didn't pick Gill up for scoring because we already have that at defense, Shea Weber and Ryan Suter. Poile picked him up for his defensive play, great PK, and being great at shot blocking. Gill seems to be the perfect fit. It will be interesting who he will be paired with though.
