Found February 19, 2013 on Puck Drunk Love:
There have been more than a few questionable calls so far this season that have potentially cost teams a point or two in the standings. The latest victim? The Nashville Predators, who were scored upon by Matt Duchene - a very offside Matt Duchene. From TSN's Instagram feed comes the helpful illustration above. Yeah, it looks like he might be a little bit over the line. If you can't see the puck or a blue line in front of you, chances are good that yes, you've overshot the puck a bit and you should expect to hear a whistle. It's even more obvious on the video from CBS's Eye On Hockey: Yes, what a play indeed! What a play that never should have happened, as the NHL told Nashville coach Barry Trotz. "Oops, yeah, our bad. Sorry about that! Bad call... you probably could have won that game if that call was made. You didn't need those two points, did you?" The season's half as long and the refs are maki...

Linesman misses offside call, results in goal

Sometimes in sports, the worst officiating calls are the ones that aren’t even made. That was the case Monday in Colorado where the Avalanche and Predators got together for a little holiday matinee hockey. The two clubs faced off in Denver in what ended up being a wild affair, with the Avs coming away with a 6-5 win. They were certainly helped by an egregious non-call, however...

Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk is simply amazing.  The things he can do with a puck are absolutely astounding.  He scored this incredible goal on Tuesday night against the Nashville Predators to tie the game late in the third period.  Not many players have the ability to skate through five players and then beat one of the best goalies in the NHL.  You could see Datsyuk...

Last night, Detroit Red Wings speedster Pavel Datsyuk might have scored the most impressive goal of the shortened NHL season so far. It happened in the third period of the Red Wings game against the Nashville Predators as Pavel took the puck from his own end and skated past most of the Nashville defense to get a solid shot attempt against Nashville's Pekka Rinne. Gaustad’s presence missed after injury in 6-5 loss to Colorado

Photo Credit: Bruce Bennett/Getty Images Nashville defense, one of the stingiest in the NHL, simply failed them this afternoon. In the higher altitudes of Denver, the Nashville Predators dropped a wild and offense-filled game 6-5 against the Colorado Avalanche. A fact that seemed to be lost in the overshadowing of the blown offsides call was the loss of Predators faceoff specialist...

Bleeding Heart

This week, Brian O'Reilly, father of Colorado Avalanche holdout Ryan O'Reilly, wrote a lengthy e-mail to the Denver Post explaining why his son has chosen not to re-sign with the club.  Some entertaining excerpts: If my son was getting 95 in math we wouldn’t ask him to get 65 so the rest of the students in the classroom could feel better about themselves. Many parents...
