NASHVILLE, Tenn. If the Nashville Predators end up losing their Western Conference Semifinal series with Phoenix, it will be remembered for one thing: the suspensions of forwards Alex Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn for Game 3 and the subsequent decision to hold them out again in Game 4 as a hockey decision. Following the Preds' 1-0 loss in Game 4 at Bridgestone Arena a game that cried out for a finisher -- the Preds now trail in the series 3-1. Game 5 is Monday in Glendale, Ariz., when the Preds will try to stave off elimination. If, somehow, the Preds rally and win the next three games, then the series will be remembered for an incredible comeback. Nashville coach Barry Trotz said he likes the odds of being down 3-1 a lot better than 3-0 from which NHL teams have only rallied three times in league history. "Plain and simple is we gotta win a hockey game," Trotz said. "And that focus can't go any farther than that. Winning a hockey game and it's going...

Preds to sit Radulov, Kostitsyn for Game 4

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Nashville Predators got along without two of their leaders in points in Game 3 and so they will attempt to do it again in Game 4 when the puck drops Friday night at Bridgestone Arena. The Preds stand a win away from tying their Western Conference semifinal series with Phoenix at two games apiece. They trailed 2-0 when the team suspended wings Alex Radulov and...

Trotz quiet on status of Radulov, Kostitsyn

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- It's not fun being Alex Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn right now. The two Predators forwards, held out of Game 3 for a violation of team rules, have no certainty to as to when they will return to the lineup. They're taking their medicine. And, at risk of mixing metaphors, they're eating their humble pie. Entering Game 3 as the Preds' two leading...

303 QUICK POLL: Radulov, Kostitsyn will not play tonight; good or bad decision?

Nashville Predators Head Coach Barry Trotz confirmed that both Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn would not play in game four, thereby extending their team-imposed suspension for their antics last Saturday night by at least one more game. The Preds won game three without their leading playoff scorer (Radulov) and without one of the leading playoff goal scorers (Kostitsyn) but...

Radulov and Kostitsyn’s antics aren’t as ‘Goose Loonies’ rare as one miight think

The Toronto Sun’s Steve Simmons tosses some rather obvious hints at the John Tortorellas and Brian Burkes of the hockey world, discusses the “Russian problem,” Marc Bergevin’s qualifications, surprising playoff performers and the utter unpredictability of the playoffs in his Sunday column, but something tells me you might be more interested in the main thrust of his discussion...

Preds salvage series in spite of suspensions

NASHVILLE The Nashville Predators seemed to be dancing on the razor's edge entering Game 3 of their Western Conference Semifinal series with Phoenix on Wednesday. A day earlier, they had suspended their two top scorers in the playoffs, Alex Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn, for a violation of team rules, as the Preds had fallen down 0-2 in the series. Had the Predators not responded...

Unless They Break Team Rules Again, The Suspended Two Will Play Monday

from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, Nashville Predators coach Barry Trotz, on a media conference call Saturday, said there is a “high probability” both Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn will return to the lineup Monday night with his team down 3-1 in the series to the Phoenix Coyotes. Trotz said the Predators had a lot of chances in Friday night’s 1-0 loss at home, but several...

Suspended Predator players may not return for Game 4

Nashville Predators coach Barry Trotz had said earlier this week that if his team won Game 3 against Phoenix he would keep the same lineup for Friday's Game 4, and Trotz on Thursday hinted he may stick to that plan, even though it would mean leaving forwards Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn out of the lineup again. Radulov leads the team in playoff scoring and Kostitsyn...

Predators Ice Girl Grabs Catfish Barehanded Off the Ice During Game 3 in Nashville (Video)

The Nashville Predators were without two players on Wednesday night against the Phoenix Coyotes in Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinals series. It didn't matter much, though, as the Preds skated to a win. Perhaps they were inspired to rally together without the likes of Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn who were forced to sit out after breaking team rules. Or, Nashville...

The Nashville Suspensions

After losing games one and two in their series against Phoenix, the Nashville Predators shocked the hockey world by suspending two of their best offensive players Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn for breaking team rules by staying out late before game two.  Nashville was in a situation where there was no win.  It is not going to help the team if some of their top players...

Preds get back to their identity, beat Coyotes…

For the first time in this series, the Nashville Predators played Predator hockey and what do you know? Without  team-suspended forwards Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn at their disposal, the Preds got back to their identity and beat the Phoenix Coyotes 2-0 in front of 17,113 at Bridgestone Arena. Phoenix now leads the series 2-1. Pekka Rinne turned in 32 saves for his...

Phoenix Coyotes One Win Away From Western Conference Finals

The Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Nashville Predators by the score of 1-0. You can be sure Nashville coach Barry Trotz will be questioned regarding the lack of scoring, especially with Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn not dressing for tonight’s game. The Coyotes played their typical brand of playoff hockey and trusted Mike Smith to do the rest. Here’s the only goal of...

Trotz has difficult lineup decisions to make heading into Game 4 of Semifinals

Going into Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals, the coaching staff of the Nashville Predators will have some difficult decisions to make. Will Tootoo play on Friday night? After losing the first two contests of the series to Phoenix, the Predators shut out the Coyotes by a 2-0 score, without Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn in the lineup. The two scoring threats were...
