Phoenix Coyotes (24-21-8, 56 pts) @ Dallas Stars (27-22-2, 56 pts) 7:30 PM CT, February 7, 2012 American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas Dallas gets another taste of division play tonight (their third in four games this month) as the invisible Phoenix Coyotes come into town. The Coyotes are, of course, the only team in the league that has a worse average attendence than the Stars (though the attendence in Dallas has been solid since the price changes. Sell-out last game!). Both Phoenix and Dallas sit two points of the last spot in the playoffs so needless to say, tonight is a huge game. Dallas is continuing its up and down season, alternating wins and losses in its last three games. They outlasted the Minnesota Wild 2-1 in a shootout win on Saturday. Kari Lehtonen has been back in his early season form, winning his last three games and stopping 93 of 96 shots. Traditionally the matchups have been very close between these two teams so he'll be integral again tonight. Lehtonen...

Rumor: NHL may be destined to relocate Phoenix Coyotes to Seattle, and why it’s a brilliant move

Seattle has been home to the Western Hockey League’s Thunderbirds since 1985. The hockey faithful have had the opportunity to see the development of top talent, such as Patrick Marleau, Tim Hunter and Chris Osgood. With the rumors out that the Phoenix Coyotes could relocate to Seattle, there’s a very good chance for professional hockey to be revived in a viable market...

Doan’s Future Is Murky

from the CP at TSN, The thought has at least crossed Shane Doan’s mind. With the Phoenix Coyotes’ ownership situation still in limbo and unrestricted free agency staring him in the face, the veteran forward could be playing out his final season in the desert. “Obviously, I’d be pretty naive to not think that way,” Doan said in a recent interview. ...

Bill Meltzer: Star Gazing: 2/8/12

The Dallas Stars continued their pattern of taking one step backward after a step ahead. It hurt to lose last night's winnable home ice divisional game to Phoenix, 4-1. A few minutes after Michael Ryder erased a 1-0 deficit with an early second-period tally (his team-leading 19th of the season), Dallas had a golden opportunity to seize control of the game. The Stars gained...

Stars dominated in 4-1 loss to Coyotes

Final Dallas 1 - Phoenix 4 There are a lot of ways to react to a loss like the one that Dallas had last night: Anger, embarrassment, indignation, pity, sadness but I felt only one thing, apathy. I just couldn't get angry over how poorly the Stars played in one of the most critical games of the season because that's what the Stars have become this year. They are a team that...

Dear Blues Front Office: Please Don’t Mortgage the Future

To begin, yes I realize the Blues have some issues on the offensive end. Even if those issues are frustratingly named Pekka Rinne, Nikolai Khabibulin, Josh Harding and Kari Lehtonen. If you’re a Blues fan you know the Note out-shoots virtually every opponent but has had their fair share of issues putting the puck in the back of the net. And yes they need some help with a scoring...
