Those were the words of John Tortorella after last night's 2-0 Rangers victory over the Flyers in which Brandon Prust set the tone for the afternoon by fighting Zac Rinaldo four seconds into the game... To watch on YouTube click here. The later on in the period he sent a message to Simmonds that you don't hit Marian Gaborik... To watch on YouTube click here....Prust hasn't been his normal hard nosed self to begin the season. Not sure of the shoulder or any of the other multitude of injuries are bothering him, but boy did he come to play in what was the biggest game up till this point so far this season.Oh yeah, readers Matt D. and tookish190 sort of answers my question about the Rangers record when Prust fights off the opening face-off by telling me that the Rangers are 9-2-0 when Prust fights in the first five minutes of the game.Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at nyrfan94@yahoo.com.

Rangers Unveil 2012 Winter Classic Jerseys

The New York Rangers unveiled their jerseys for the 2012 NHL Winter Classic this afternoon in Central Park, which you could've watched right here on the blog. Below are the jerseys, followed by my thoughts on the newly-designed sweaters.  I love the look of these jerseys, and they just so happen to resemble the new look I launched on the blog this morning. The crest actually...

Flyers to be without D Pronger for four weeks

It appears Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger has been suffering from more than a virus. The Flyers announced Monday that the towering blue liner will miss the next four weeks after undergoing left knee surgery Tuesday. The team had said Pronger was dealing with a virus, but did not mention that he was also trying to recover from an injured knee. "The procedure will...

Rangers Discover Identity in Past Two Wins

In their past two wins against the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers, the New York Rangers arguably played their best hockey of the season; better than they did during their seven-game winning streak two weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, there were times when they looked very sharp throughout that streak, but they weren't playing to their potential.  In a very well...

Postgame: Rangers' Complete Effort Blanks Flyers, 2-0

If today’s game was any indication of what the 2012 NHL Winter Classic will be like on January 2, then the fans are going to be very happy with what they see….. Ranger fans, that is. And rightfully so, because the Blueshirts came out today and put together a beautiful 60-minute performance less than 24 hours after defeating the Washington Capitals, 6-3, to complete the perfect...

Tim Panaccio: Pronger Gets Another Surgery

So it was more than just a virus with Chris Pronger. He needs his left knee cleaned out. He will undergo arthroscopic surgery on TUE. This is his second knee surgery as a Flyer. He had RIGHT knee surgery in the summer of 2010. Same thing. Arthroscopic but it was more invasive than this procedure which the Flyers are calling a "minor" cleanup. GM Paul Holmgren also...

Brandon Dubinsky on Jody Shelley: ‘He’s a terrible hockey player’

Here, for the second time today, is the teaser for HBO's much-anticipated 24/7 Flyers Rangers, which should serve to get you appropriately excited for program. It's worth a revisit, especially in light of the delicious back-and-f0rth it has spawned between Jody Shelley and Brandon Dubinsky. I direct your attention specifically to Shelley's standout moment at the six...

Rangers 2, Flyers 0

Rangers-Flyers in review

Thoughts: 1) I don’t believe most staged fights serve any purpose. But when two rival teams get together, or when there is an axe to grind, and two guys go at it right off the first draw, well, that does set a tone. 2) Brandon Prust is certainly willing, and more than tough, and he’s a very good fighter, But he’s not a heavyweight (duh) and he takes some shots, for sure...

New kids are all right for Rangers

After Brad Richards scored a power play goal for a 1-0 lead going into the third, Carl Hagelin tallied his first career NHL goal, lifting the Rangers over a skeleton Philadelphia crew at a sold-out Garden.
