Entering game 3 of the Calder Cup finals, the Manitoba Moose
hadn't seen the Michal Neuvirth that the Eastern conference's playoff
teams did this postseason. And halfway through pre-game warm-ups Saturday, for a few scary moments it
looked like they might not see him at all. Neuvirth
took a Chris Bourque slapshot in the neck then and fell to the ice, remaining there
for some while in obvious distress. But he shook off the sting, eventually resumed warm-ups, and proceeded to
stop all 28 Manitoba
shots he faced in game 3 in Hershey's 3-0 triumph.
It was Michal Neuvirth's fourth shutout of this postseason.
The Bears now lead the Calder Cup finals two games to
one. Game 4 is Sunday afternoon back at Giant Center.
Neuvirth was a lead story in game 3, but his special teams
units -- most particularly his penalty killers -- were one as well. The Bears
killed off all five Manitoba
power plays, including a 5-on-3 for 70 seconds in perio...
