When the Rangers inked Taylor Pyatt to a two-year deal last night, there were more quizzical expressions than when the Rangers signed Arron Asham. The signing of Pyatt likely means that Ruslan Fedotenko is done in New York, like the way Asham’s signing meant Brandon Prust was done in New York. The swapping of bottom-six players isn’t all that uncommon, as players bolt for paydays...
Via Darren Dreger, the Rangers have agreed to sign winger Taylor Pyatt to a two-year deal worth $1.55 million annually. The 30-year-old spent the last three seasons with the Coyotes, averaging 13-11-24 while playing in at least 73 games each year. Pyatt has also spent time with the Islanders, Sabres, and Canucks. I’ll leave the in-depth analysis up to our resident experts.
Not exactly a depth signing, per TSN’s Darren Dreger:
Taylor Pyatt also agrees to 2 year deal with the NYR.
2 years…annual average salary of $1.55 for Pyatt with NYR.
Press Release: New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with free agent forward Taylor Pyatt. From Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants:
The Rangers have agreed to a two-year, $3.1 million deal with veteran left wing Taylor Pyatt, who had nine goals and 10 assists in 73 games for the Coyotes last season.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Pyatt has also played for the Islanders...
Over the past few days, we have seen some fairly significant roster turnover for the Rangers. While the majority of the core remains intact, the Rangers saw Arron Asham and Taylor Pyatt come in to –for all intents and purposes– replace Brandon Prust, Ruslan Fedotenko, and John Mitchell.
We’ve analyzed Asham versus Prust and Pyatt versus Fedotenko individually. But to be fair...
The Rangers went ahead and signed depth forward Taylor Pyatt on Tuesday afternoon - a signing that could potentially pay off considering the 30-year-old's size and weight, coupled with his proven offensive ability. That fills a spot in the bottom six for the Blueshirts, but they are still in search for top six forwards who can help boost the team's goal production, especially...
Rangers free agency, days 2 and 3, is not any different from day 1. I was thinking of just leaving the blog blank as a statement but what fun would that be. (EDIT: Late news, team signs Taylor Pyatt, formerly of Phoenix to a two-year, $3.1 million deal. Solid third/fourth line player. Had good playoffs. Style-wise fits into how the Rangers play and is big. Provides some depth, replacing...
