It appears that some offensive help could be on the way for the Rangers. According to SovSports, a Russian newspaper, Alexander Frolov could be signing with New York on a one-year deal soon. While nothing has been finalized, the two sides have been in talks, and this could be the value signing of the offseason.
According to Frolov’s agent, Sergei Isakov, the deal could be very similar to the one signed by another of Isakov’s clients, Maxim Afinogenov, last year with the Atlanta Thrashers – in other words, a low dollar figure in order to show that a poor season was simply an abberation. Frolov’s numbers weren’t great last year, with 19 goals and 32 assists, but Isakov suggests that this could partly be due to his demotion to the third line.
